It's the only station worth watching on TV. With every other station you're better of just pirating what you want to watch.

        >the only station worth watching
        >when most of the good programming has either been moved to a different channel or gets shafted because it's not The Andy Griffith Show, M*A*S*H, and Hogan's Heroes

MeTV started going to shit when they started airing two hours of M*A*S*H and moved all the good shit like ALF and My Three Sons to 5 in the morning.

Does anyone remember when MeTV showed That 70s Show, Scrubs, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Frasier, The Bernie Mac Show, and Mad About You or was that way before they started broadcasting outside of the Midwest?

How is it damaging? If anything, it's good to remind people that cartoons used to be good, even if there is no hope for the future.

It stigmatizes vintage animation like Looney Tunes and Fleischer as kiddy toddler shit with using the same Saturday Morning puppet variety show and talked down, degrading humor that forced animation into that role starting in the 1960s

It's a nostalgia channel for 40-70 year olds. If you've ever watched the show you'd know it's obviously not meant for children at all.

I did, and it's clearly aiming for a preteen demographic with the skits and talking down to the audience
As other anon says it reminds me way too much of WGN's Ray Rayner content in the 70s from the snippets I've seen and stuff like that was severely damaging to the medium

It isn't aiming at a preteen audience, it's aiming to duplicate the feel of old cartoon blocks from the 50s-80s that had a live action host (like Bozo the Clown or Captain Chesapeake). It's obviously meant to be a nostalgic throwback to the adults who were kids during those decades.

There's a reason why cartoons in general died out. It doesn't stop the people who grew up with them from feeling nostalgic for them.

It's a bit strange to see people bothered by television that actually has curation and actual effort added to it. Most television these days is sterile and played without block hosts, intros, station idents, or personalized bumpers to make room for more commercials. Most tv is consumed with abrupt ads and no station bells and whistles like you saw in the early days of tv. MeTV plays these cartoons completely uncut and don't even edit out the intros/outros. That's an amazing thing in 2024. And the added context of having an actual block host? That's even more unheard of.

        It's Chicago humor.
If you don't live n Chicago, or didn't grow up in Chicago you're not going to get it.
Most of it is going to go over your head.
That's OK, though, because the cartoons are good, so rip a bong, or smoke a fatty, kick back, relax, chill out, and just watch the cartoons.

Just be thankful this shit is being shown on TV at ALL. Animation on TV has been largely dead for the past several decades.

The Simpsons. It brought back adult animation, but 99% are writer driven sitcoms. The fricking Ren and Stimpy reboot even is one!

No, we have online streaming, and Hulu doesn't carry it.

        Is it on Youtube TV?

No. You have to watch an actual TV to get the station, and if no local affiliate has it, you've got to shell out to the big cable companies for it.

You can stream it on Frndly TV, but it costs like 7 bucks a month. Probably not worth it just for MeTV, but if it becomes the only means of getting MeTV Toons, I'll probably consider it.
