I eat one of these almost every day

My diet is pretty clean otherwise, but this and coffee I can't seem to give up.
Am I gonna get lead poisoning?

There is some shit in chocolate that triggers intense/extreme migrains in some people like me.
No way in hell I could eat a whole bar, maybe a couple pieces, otherwise this for half an hour + possible headache/nausea

      Anonymous

Shit, that sounds bad. Do you get the same effects from say ice cream / other deserts that use cocoa?

        Anonymous

No,It needs to be a moderate quantity of cocoa to open the possibility of one of those episodes, which could happen at any moment of the day.
But to trigger an instant episode It would be as simple as eating whole bar of decently strong chocolate.
I dont really avoid chocolate/cocoa I just avoid eating a lot of It in a single sitting, ice cream and other desserts dont have much of It and even if they have I take care of myself and dont overeat anyways.
My worst episode was back when I didnt know chocolate caused me those auras/headaches and I did a masaive shake of 100% cocoa ,It want even liquid, prob put 50+grams on it,at first I felt super energetic but after an hour-2 I literally felt poisoned, almost blinded by a massive aura, headache and lots of nausea

      >HOW many squares???
      >wait, you mean to say you eat AN ENTIRE BAR??? EVERY DAY!???????

there is actually some studies that show dark chocolate can increase insulin sensitivty. It is due to one of the chemical compounds in the cacao. A bit like how certiain fruits like berries can too. Although in the cacao study, which I cannot find now, only gave the participants, who were already metabolically unhealthy, 20g (2 squares) a day.

        Anonymous

        Isn't insulin sensitivity good?

          Anonymous

Insulin is produced by the body when there is a high amount of sugar in the blood. It tells the liver/fat cells to convert the sugar into fat. Implicitly the higher someones insulin sensitivity, the more likely their body is to convert blood sugar into fat; the fix is to have a ketogenic diet (near zero carbohydrates eaten/drank) for a reasonable period of time but changing diet can be exceedingly difficult for non whites due to their poor self control.

            Anonymous

Yes, and high insulin sensitivity is good, it means the body works as opposed to eating tons of sugar without the body producing insulin (low insulin sensitivity). What you want is your body to produce insulin at the smallest drop of sugar.

            Right? Am I misinterpreting something?
