This is the best one I've found so far. Take with vitamin c to aid absorption. One scoop with 1000mg of vitamin c is more than enough. It tastes like shit though so I'd recommend putting it in something sweet or adding a sweetener to the drink so it's palatable

You should just eat more protein. Collagen that you eat is going to get broken down into amino acids anyways and it’s usually marked up a ton.

And the actual amount from a supp is puny. Each capsule in your pic has 2 grams (serving size is 3 capsules) of collagen. Imagine eating a sprinkle of protein powder and thinking it’s going to do anything for you. These companies make so much fricking money it’s insane lol

collagen peptides aren't broken down, they are just ready to be used.
Collagen also accounts for 30% of your daily protein needs. So by supplementing it specifically at 30% of your daily intake, you are ensuring that your actual protein intake is being utilized for what it's suppose to be used for. Which is muscle growth.

      Lurk moar newbie.

Hi Mr GNC rep, please frick off or buy an ad. That's not how protein digestion works, you neither get nor want highly intact long peptide chains, it all gets broken down to small components. Collagen is an extremely simple repeat structure of glycine and proline (well, hydroproline too but that's just modified proline), no one needs to buy your shitty under dosed prepackaged pills to get those.

get some powder gelatin made from animal skin/bone/, mix it with some quality fruit juice and enjoy the collagen from it.
50 grams of powder and 500 ml of juice last me 3-4 days.

Your body makes collagen from vitamin C. There is no need to eat collagen.

Collagen is made from multiple sources and our ancestors ate a much higher collagen diet that we currently do.
      >vitamin C
Black person glycine is a conditionally essential amino acid and in the average 1st world diet, it is abysmal.

No it doesn't. The most important amino acids for collagen come from animal foods. People are supposed to eat a lot more animal foods than they do. Instead of wasting money on goysupps just eat meat. Why does this sub, ostensibly a FITNESS site, have such resistance to basic nutrition and such a susceptibility to marketing and fad diets?

Eat enough meat, fish and eggs and you won't have skin problems.

I could pull dozens of studies, you can either read them or choose to stay in the dark.
Collagen peptides, not collagen, not broth, not glycine.
      Collagen peptides, specifically
      >reduce arthritic symptoms
      >reduce wound heal time
      >increase elasticity and hydration of the skin
This is because collagen peptides are not broken down before digestion, and are not limited by protein-transport digestive systems.
What this means specifically is that your body digest them entirely, utilize them, and if not utilized they break down to be re-utilized as base amino acids in the normal recycle process.

Yes bone broth is good, but you're missing the key point.
Bone broth, gelatins, etc are broken down before digestion and compete in the amino acid transport mechanism.
That is the key difference here.

Of all supplementation, ever, collagen peptides and collagen supplementation (generalized) is the easiest one to prove actually has real benefits to the general population.
That's why glycine is a conditionally essential amino acid.
Because our modern diets have only about 1/3rd the collagen they use to have.

I've read some of this gay thread and I'll just say my experience with it so far as a lifetime jointlet. I supplement collagen peptides every day with some vitamin c. My hair, nails, and skin are far healthier, my joints are far stronger, and I seem to heal faster in general. Collagen peptides don't break down like normal protein does which is why pork rinds, which are mostly collagen, aren't a good source of dietary protein like most people are thinking of despite having 9g of total protein per serving; 7g of that is collagen. I've been experimenting with gelatin, which is just a far more processed version, mixed in with the drink and the results seem to be multiplying the effectiveness. You dumb fricks are taking BPC-157, a substance in the same category as fricking insulin, and risking your health on mystery chemicals when this setup has been working just as effectively as that drug from my experience so far and there are zero (0) sides because collagen and gelatin are just food. It'd be like claiming you get crazy sides from protein powder or creatine. It just doesn't happen if you're reasonably healthy

It's a substance that people are taking nowadays that rapidly heals connective tissue. It's very new and the long term health consequences aren't known yet. If someone is on gear then they're also more than likely taking shit like that too

          Anonymous

And it's usually the wrong type. One is for skin one is for connective tissue, might as well get it fresh anyways.

Take a guess if simmering down whole chickens and leftover beef pork lamb veal bones is gonna actually have more connective tissue for your dollar. And if onion peels carrot shavings celery garlic peels and ends etc is gonna give you more vitamins to be absorbed with it.

You clearly don’t spend a lot of time around rich people. Maybe in like Orange County they’re eating health food but most of the country rich people eat like shit. Sure the ingredients are good and the food tastes amazing but they’re still fat fricks at the end of the day

Better to make soups and sauces out of chicken beef lamb veal bones etc. They normally only use chicken leftovers, combined with veggies for stock/sauces/soups is way better.

Read the labels and search for the actual amount of collagen it contains. You want to take about 10g of hydrolyzed collagen for its benefits, i've seen products with massive labels saying "COLLAGEN" but the pills inside only had 10% collagen 90% random bullshit, and i'd have to take like 10 pills for a decent effect. Dont fall for the scams
