>I have a weight loss theory

Conventional wisdom says that drinking water boosts metabolism, helps you to lose weight however what if everyone is wrong. I say this because every year obesity goes up and yet the food pyramid is correct, science is correct, then why are people getting sicker and fatter.

My theory largely posits on the work of Dr. Filonov who is an advocate of Dryfasting. It is the theory that when the body is stressed of water, it will force you to to drink (thirst), however when you are dryfasting, you cannot do so. The theory is that the body is forced to produce this water through the catabolism of fat. It is commonly why when dryfasting as opposed to waterfasting one feels cold whereas when there is not fluids entering the body, one does not shiver.
The excess calories are burned off as the need for water is greater than the need for adipose tissue.

It is what the majority believe, I don't think it is. It is for this reason that I have begun challenging pretty much every single mainstream nutritional dogma, in this thread I wish to discuss the 'drink lots of water, it's good for you, helps you to lose weight'.

It probably doesn't help you lose weight, logically it makes sense what you're saying. Your body needs water for basic functions and so depriving the body of water would force it to get water in whatever way possible
It may not be worth it for health reasons, sure you might go a week or more without drinking water if you're just sitting at home, but that's not enough time to lose any real weight.

          >It probably doesn't help you lose weight

Why exactly. Your body needs water to function, thus even even if you eat every day however simply refuse to drink anything, then the daily water which is required will still need to be obtained somehow, thus the body will be forced to burn adipose tissue.

I am not advocating fasting, I'm saying eat whatever you what, simply abstain from water.

Oh sorry. My question is two-fold. Either the scientists/nutritionists are all lying to us or I'm wrong. I always read stuff like water boosts metabolism, helps you to lose weight.

I've been testing my theory, been doing it for two weeks actually and I've lost 2kg without any amendments to my diet except for cutting out all water.

What are these health reasons you speak of.

Well being dehydrated will lead immediatly noticeable problems, not even talking about longterm it's acute. You can get a lot of water from food so maybe you haven't experienced serious dehydration yet

Yes the dehyration is an issue.

I swear to God, this board gets dumber and dumber every 24 hours.
                1. At your BMR, you will only produce about 10% of your required water intake during dry fasting.
                2. There is no difference between getting water from water ir water from fruit, except added carbs.
                3. You are losing weight because you are losing water and water has weight.
                4. You are "cold" because of fever chills because your body cannot regulate temperature without water.
                5. Your kidneys cannot concentrate urine enough to prevent water loss like a desert rodent.
                6. Have fun when your blood starts clotting and you die of a heat stroke like a fricking idiot.

ok but challenging the dogma is not the same as intentionally looking for evidence to disagree with the dogma. remember when you're doing your won research that sometimes you end up finding the mainstream dogma was actually right. not in every case, but sometimes it is. this is what will separate you from the irritating "well actually" mom-science crowd.

actually it's not, I eat whatever I want, just don't drink anything. It's actually led me to eating a lot more fruit for the water.

      Also why is it unhealthier.

in the past I would spend my weekends bushwacking around the forest while dry fasting and it did not seem to do anything for weight loss, although there were a variety of other benefits

your excess calories being burned off in a dryfast are from the ketogenic state brought on by 'fasting'

Are you seriously implying that people structure their diets in accordance with the food pyramid? People are getting fatter because they eat like pigs

You are actually not that far off. But the problem I see is any benefit dryfasting could give you is outweighed by some high risks. You can easily frick yourself without drinking water.
And for losing weight I don't think dryfasting would be that much quicker than water fasting.
