I have been going to the gym for 15 days.

And now I finally understand why most people quit on the first week. I am going through the same feeling right now.
>been doing a beginner routine of Upper and Lower
>basically only using machines, since I might still be too weak for barbells
>always finish the workout doing 1h of cardio
And in 15 days I have noticed absolutely no improvement whatsoever. I am still stuck at around 18~20kg for lat pulldown and leg machines, around 14~16kg for chest and shoulder machines, I can't even do 10 strict lateral raise reps with 5kg as my form completely deteriorates mid set.
For cardio I do sets of 10min light/medium effort and around 3min rest, but my rates didn't increase at all, in fact I still had to pause before finishing the 10min many times.
I get that exercise gains are supposed to come slowly, but I am also understanding that I actually have to force myself to keep going, because I'm by a string from giving up.
I guess I am really experiencing firsthand why fitness lifestyle is not exactly something popular.
I am also starting to wonder: Are machines really the most beginner friendly option?
They look straightforward, but the form is so easy to get wrong (I'm 100% sure my wide grip lat pulldown reps are terrible).
Am I wasting my time? Should I have just forced myself into barbells even by embarrassing myself and using the empty bar for days?

You're not too weak for barbells, I see 100 pound asian women squatting and benching barbells. You're not weaker than that?

What's the point of giving up? You'll always be a weakling then.
Whereas if you keep going you'll get a stronger in a couple months

You should be experiencing easy noob gains, not zero progress. Switch to basics, no machines bodyweight only, push ups pull ups dips bulgarian squats etc. Eat more, sleep better and improve on the basics.

You treat your body like garbage for many years, and now you think it'll be somewhat better after 15 measly days of half-assed effort? Just get out, and go back to being a comfortable loser. Motivation is dogshit. Do it for you and you only.

15 days WTF? Dude don't start looking for progress until at least 3 months.
Are you working in rest days? With Upper/Lower it sould be Upper, Rest, Lower, Rest, etc. Use the rest days for your cardio, no in training days. Have you even started dialing in your protein requirements?
Dude, did you seriously go into this just thinking, if I go to the gym every day I'll have gains in 15 days?!

    >I get that exercise gains are supposed to come slowly
You actually should progress blazingly fast on your lifts in the first month or so if you was inactive before.

there are no n00b gains when you have no mind muscle connection, you probably don't have the right movements yet, no matter if machine or free weights.
you need to keep training to get proper ecc/conc movement and proper muscle activation.
also, lose the 1h cardio, it will make you want kys. you have to enjoy gym, not suffer in it. replace it with some form of HIIT for 20m.

This is what SS is for. You dont do it forever but get to a 200lb bench or so and it will make machines and shit make more sense

Machines are beginner friendly in the aspect that most if not all of them keep you from being pinned under a bar or something.

2nd for doing Starting Strength though. It sounds like you're mainly discouraged by your strength gains, and that's basically what the program is for.

Also, unless you're training for a sport or to run a 5k or something, you don't necessarily have to run for cardio. Granted I was tracking my calories, but I dropped a good 40lbs mainly doing incline treadmill walks after lifting.

    Yes use barbells.

15 days is nothing. You have to break through. Force yourself.

Is your diet shit? I bet it's shit. Look up "healthy food" and stop lying to yourself.

    >Should I have just forced myself into barbells even by embarrassing myself and using the empty bar for days
yes. youre never going to grow or improve if you dont push yourself. becoming healthier and stronger is as much of a mental strain as it is physical. the bar is only 45lbs, you can lift more than you realize, your mind will give out before your body will. stop doing so much cardio too.

A gymnastics coach once said it takes 6-8 weeks to gain 1 'level' of strength. He was measuring moves like from assisted-planche --> planche etc. This is how long it takes for true strength to change. Even if you're able to gain 10lb of creatine-assisted water-weight muscle in a few months it will always fade rapidly without training. So take it slow, eat & rest plentifully. You're in this for LIFE.
