I just PR'd on bench...

...and have no lifting buddies, so I needed someone to tell.

So I'm telling you.

185. It ain't much, but it took me a year to get to this point.

Never lifted a weight until 11 months ago. Halfway to my goal.

Feels good bros. Feels really, really good.

I get more compliments about my lifts and songs from strangers on the most toxic places on the net(the 4chins) than in real life. People don’t get what lies behind our efforts and results and don’t know shit how hard is to reach those goals. Good job anon i’m proud of you m8! Well done bro.
I hit 75kg for 7 reps this week. I'm almost at my previous PR of 87.5, which I hit 8 years ago.

fellow relatively new gymbro here, 185 is actually really impressive! been lifting for about six months now and currently max out on 110 for 10-12 reps looking forward to two plates, im really proud of myself and so should you. ive come so far since i started when i barely did 65 for 10-12 reps and it seems like you did too. always keep your head up and never stop the grind. were all gonna make it.

Thanks a lot for all the words of encouragement- it's taken an insane amount of discipline to get this far.

I started in August of 2021 with a used bowflex, and worked up to iron from there. Bought a used bench off Craigslist, and begged, borrowed, and bought any random plates I could find. 185 is bodyweight for me, so felt really good hitting that milestone, even if it was only 8x4. Or is it 4x8. Idk. Whatever four sets of 8 reps is.

Physique is nothing like I was a year ago. I cannot believe I didn't do this sooner.

WAGMI. Keep up the poasting, it keeps the former lurkers like me going.

congrats!! i reached 185 very recently, too, after lifting on and off for a bit. We got this, bro, 2 plates is next

Solid progress brothers, MIRIN. Glad to hear you are enjoying your milestones. You guys see that progress in the mirror too for sure. Time for the next goal with full energy, motivation and drive bros. Let's go

Nice job, anon, you're doing better than me. At around 2 years of off and on lifting, been really serious about it for the past 8 months or so and finally benched 200 lbs for reps. Sounds like you're more disciplined and organized than I was, nice job. You're well on your way to being really strong.

The trick is to turn regular buddies into gym ones anon. Most people actually do want to look like a bodybuilder afterall.
I made two friends start lifting, one started at 60kg and weighs 70kg with abs now.
    The other started at 100kg with a 70kg bench and now he's 80kg with a 120kg bench.
    Always good fun

I have no gym friends. I find myself drifting from my friends. I don't think I can call anyone at work a real friend.
    I am so alone.
I lie to myself and say that being better will make me happier. I will never be happy. I have to lie and say I'm happy all the time because it's just easier.
I want to move to a monastery and be away from all this noise.

Im 140lbs 5'4" alcoholic boomer who hasnt been in the gym in over 6 months and eat like shit and jusy got back in the gym 1 week ago and already doing reps with 185. Its nothing you should be proud or bragg about. 2plates should be everyones goal especiall if bigger/taller than me.

This may come as a shock but the fact that you’re a stubby armed midget with a 5” RoM helps quite a bit with the bench press.

    Bench: 72.5kg 3x5
    OHP: 42.5kg 3x5
    Bent over row: 85kg 3x5
    Deadlift: 100kg 3x5
    Zercher: 80kg 3x5
How bad is this? These are just compound moves not full workout

      Anonymous

You can row 85 kgs but can only diddly 100kgs and bench 72.5kgs? Bro I bet your form sucks on the rows.
I can deadlift slightly more than you do yet I can barely Pendlay row 1pl8 for a 2-3 reps. Strict Rows generally should be around your bench, maybe slightly lesser.

        Anonymous

Yeah the form isn’t completely strict but I’d say I don’t use momentum or anything until the last rep or the last set usually. I normally follow these with Yates row at 60kg for 3x10 and my form is pretty good on those I think. Again some momentum in the last reps

the only lift I ever sent video footage of, was my 635x2 deadlift, to my dad, who’s personal 1RM at his peak was 635. He told me he was proud. Haven’t deadlifted seriously since I mogged him.
