I only have dumbbells.

I only have dumbbells. Am I doing myself a disservice by not buying a bar when it comes to squats and the regular 5x5 Stronglift exercises?

      Yes. Also do Starting Strength which is 3x5. 5 sets burn newbies out and they don't progress as much as they could because of it. Leg training with only db's ain't the same. It works, you can do it (if they are heavy enough) but its far from as enjoyable, fun and pragmatic as a barbell. So get a barbell if possible.

    You can squat with just dumbells but try and save-up some money for a cage and barbell + plates. It's a good investment. Doing goblets, hamstring curls and lunges with dumbels should be fine enough though if you aren't a super serious lifter.

      You know what drives me crazy about George Floyd? Every year about a dozen or two unarmed people are killed by the cops. Definitively and unjustifiably. Most people can't name a single one.     if you don't have a barbell and weights, you can't do SL. You can't do any program made up entirely on barbells and weights, since you do not have barbells and weights.
    Look, you can work out with your dumbbells, it's what you got and you gotta work with what you got. But don't do SL, because you literally can't.

    Just don't do 5x5 StrongLifts. Do a dumbbell routine instead.

    Start with dumbbell squats, then work up to lunges and Bulgarian split squats. Instead of deadlifts, do Romanian deadlifts.

    Instead of OHP, do the much safer dumbbell shoulder press (arms at 45 degrees). Dumbbell bench is good, get a pullup bar for pullups. Just be careful with dumbbell rows. If your technique involves to much trunk rotation, you'll give yourself a hernia. Treat them like barbell bent over rows, just row two dumbbells at once.

    Instead of using microplates and progressive overload, just up your volume to like 5x15, until you can go up to another dumbbell.

    You can do split squats. Bss grow quads better than back squat. But for strength, yes you want a Barbell.
