i tried to Vitamin D max but just got sun poisoning

it was a nice day and I was at the park with my bud so I took my shirt off for an hour. My back skin got super red and peely and I spent all day throwing up with fever. I tried putting olive oil on my back like the ancient greeks but it didn't help. Frick you guys who told me I need an hour of sunlight daily

You need to do it gradually so your skin builds a resistance, just like training
If you go for an hour without seeing the sun for months you're gonna get roasted

i have med complexion and my face/arms are moderately tan so I assumed 1 hour wouldn't completely frick me. It was cloudy too

On cloudy days I think it's easier to get burned because you don't feel it as much

You still get a tan when it's cloudy. Most people think that as soon as they don't feel the sun warming their skin, they're not gonna get burned, but the heat comes from the infrared waves and the tan from UV waves. Completely different. You can feel cold and still get decent sun exposure in the summer.

You have to gradually build up resistance. Melanin isn't the only thing that protects you from UV. Vitamin D unironically also protects your skin from UV.

Just go out when the UV index is low.

Sun poisoning is super sun burn. I had a sun burn once that itched like nothing I've ever felt before, it was actually painful how badly it itched, felt like I was being bit by fire ants all over my upper back

It takes a few days to get over a sunburn fever. The feeling of peeling off large parts of your skin makes it all worth though.
A cold damp cloth over the burnt area helps a bit.

      > Your skin absorbs everything you come into contact with, considering you (probably) wouldn't eat sun screen with your mouth you should avoid letting your skin eat it.
      > The sun provides essential nutrients and activates systems in our body that are essential to our health. Sunscreen deflects the sun and prevents these natural systems.
      > Correlations (I understand not the end all be all) exist between the use of sun screen and rises in skin cancer.
      > Our body has mechanisms to defend ourselves from the sun that worked for millions of years prior to the use of sunscreen.

If you're already a synthetic chemical homunculus that gets less than 10 mins of sunshine a day and only on your exposed arms and face, wear sun screen. The sun reacts with chemicals you eat that are stored in your fat which are also associated with cancer causes.

The reason 'sunscreen bad' is because our bodies have built in systems to defend ourselves from the sun naturally if we treat ourselves right. If you avoid seed oils and eat antioxidants rich food that promote melanin production, take in gradual sunlight daily (5 or 10 mins at a time a few times a day) all over your body until you develop your natural sun resistance.

The pain will start one or two days later.
Apply antiseptic cream and or powders like Neosporin. I don't know if your country has that. But it's a really good antiseptic powder in India. Don't apply oil and go out in the sun. That will only increase burns, as oil helps properly distribute the heat to your skin. See a doctor and take antibiotics, as burns can get infected very easily due to their large surface area. Try to sleep on your stomach or sides, and keep your room temperature low.
