e-bike is the most fun thing I ever bought.
Their best if you live a near a national forest that has lots of old roads that are gated off to vehicle traffic.
Sounds pretty fun and healthy if it switches like that, I’d get it
depends on what you're going to use it for.
get an electric bike if you are going to use it to commute, otherwise get a normal one
Regular bike, electric bike is for people who want to appear healthy without being healthy
it still works as a regular bike. its more like to help you go faster if you turn on the motor or something
Or, you know, you could just pedal faster
And here's the fatty cope: waaah I want to go fast without putting in any work!!!
yes but when you get tired you can turn on the motor.
original price like 650, but it is on sale. it is from walmart cheap regardless imo.
>yes but when you get tired you can turn on the motor.
Or you can push yourself harder
youre not an anime character anon. plus most of them can do 20 mph
>And here's the fatty cope: waaah I want to go fast without putting in any work!!!
I work out in the gym and run for cardio. I ride the bike for fun.
Do you drive a car? Why are you going so fast without putting in the work? You should be pedaling everywhere.
Pedal bikes and ebikes are both TOYS. Why are you so emotionally invested with how other people play with toys?
Do you actually go significantly faster on these?
Depends on which bike.
Can probably help you get an extra 5 to 10 mph of top speed. Or simply help you pedal
If op gets a good one or chinkshit one.
My Rad Rover has a governor set to 20mph.
But going that fast also drains the battery fast.
I usually just use the pedal assist at a nice leisurely pace.
Quite often the spandex homosexuals on their $102971839 gay bikes pass me, so I dont even know why they rage about ebikes going faster than them.
I've gone as high as 30mph downhill, and to be honest its kinda scary lol
>Do you actually go significantly faster on these?
I see people riding 30+ km/h in the city frequently
Almost got rammed in the side once when I was crossing on a regular bike, would have thrashed me into the road and made a good liveleak video
but anon, liveleak is dead. and it couldn't broadcast its own death
Where I live they can't legally go faster than 25km/h and I can go significantly faster than that even on my rusty fixed gear with no brakes. E-bikes can go as fast as motorcycles tough if you have a tricked out one. Depending on where you live the police might have something to say about that tough and it's not very safe. Might as well get a motorcycle if you want a fast 2 wheeled vehicle.
uphill yeah otherwise not much
oh yeah here come all the spandex homosexuals who rage about e-bikes.
I dont have an ebike to "appear" like anything.
I have it to get me to remote locations faster and easier than walking or pedaling.
At that point get a scooter or a fricking motorcycle you lazy fat bum.
>be me
>ride ebike 8 miles along a gated forest service road that is no longer passable by vehicles
>reach an old hiking trail head
>do a 10 mile day hike
>ebike the 8 mile road back to my car
OH mY G0d U R so fvCKing LAZY f@T sl0b!!!!!!!!
If you would be fit you could run 18 miles let alone bike it without a motor.
its always moving the goal posts with you homosexuals.
You're probably a dyel skinny fat with gyno too
>You're probably a dyel skinny fat with gyno too
projecting
Why do americans think you need gay spandex to ride a bicycle? Everyone bikes with regular clothes here.
>Be American bicyclist
>Wear pink spandex
>Pedal down the middle of the street blocking vehicle traffic when there is a dedicated bike lane right along the road
>Go insane and throw a tantrum when cars try to pass
Its just what they do here.
We have the gay spandex homosexuals in Europe too but also plenty of normal people riding bikes because it's actually a viable mode of transportation. The spandex homosexuals seethe when I zoom past them in jeans and a t-shirt. They are mostly skinnyfat middle age dudes that think buying a 10 000 dollar bike and a spandex gimp suit will make them a pro cyclist.
Kek yeah you're right. Zooming past one of those spandex homosexuals with a bike worth 40 euro, wearing regular clothes while sipping a drink is the most smug I have ever felt in my entire life.
>Zooming past one of those spandex homosexuals with a bike worth 40 euro, wearing regular clothes while sipping a drink is the most smug I have ever felt in my entire life.
He was probably just cooling down after a long ride, possibly wondering what the hell you were doing
and this is actually the reason that the spandex homosexuals hate ebikes
I
wasn't using an ebike though
Same. I have a rusty steel bike that cost next to nothing. If I had an e-bike it wouldn't be mine for long.
theres gay spandex in us too
Sounds like a chad move tbqh
>>Wear pink spandex
The Rapha chad vs the Ford virgin
So why dont spandex bike homosexuals run 50 miles instead of pedaling?
>you lazy fat bum.
you're projecting
500 for an e bike is a great price but it might be absolute shit. I would recommend a normal bike, for the cost of most good e bikes you can get a world class racing bike.
>for the cost of most good e bikes you can get a world class racing bike
I don't think you understand how expensive bikes are.
I have a very fat friend who bought an ebike and he's been riding the heck out of it for months, be even started commuting to work on it. I think it's awesome, it's kind of like assisted pullups for people who aren't in good enough shape to do them unassisted. I say go for it. Honestly even if you're in good shape they're fun af.
Link to the bike in the next few minutes and I'll tell you. For $500 it's probably a shit frame with shit parts and a small motor/battery combo. In that price range it's better to diy
So based on what you said above, I found the bike on Walmart's site. 7Ah is a small battery, and they don't even list the motor wattage, as though they are ashamed to mention it. That plus it's a Walmart frame means this is no bueno.
The sale caught my eye.
I know it's not the best. battery only 36v and 26 inch aluminum frame.
But is it that bad?
https://www.walmart.com/ip/568743494
This is the link
>aluminum frame
literally planned obsolescence trash, get steel frame if you plan on keeping your bike for more than 5 years
I had to step out awhile.
Nothing wrong with Aluminum. I have a pretty nice mtb, it's aluminum. Walmart frames aren't the problem so much as every single other part of the bike is, and if you buy it in-store it's even worse because it was assembled by someone that just got promoted from mopping the floor.
My ebike is 36v. That's pretty normal. It's more about battery pack size. Voltage controls available speed, Amp-hours is total capacity. Wattage is motor strength.
Just don't buy that bike. If it's piqued your interest, do some more research. At that budget it's better to diy with a used bike.
Get a regular bike. It forces you to get maximum exercise potential and not cuck out on hills.
I shit you not, consider safety gear if you're planning to buy an e-bike. At least a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and gloves. On average, you will be going much faster on an e-bike than you would on a regular one and, for example, if you fall off a regular bicycle at 20km/h you will likely just get up, brush off some dirt and continue, if you fall at 40km/h you will probably be spending a few nights at the hospital.
E-bikes are giga onions and for fat slobs. Get a real bike. Also it's hard to buy a decent bike for $500, a e-bike for $500 is pure chinesium garbage that will burn down your home one night.
>Also it's hard to buy a decent bike for $500
not if you get a used high lvel one a few years old like a used car
For $500 i doubt is any good, you need like $1000 for an entry level e-bike, you are probably looking at toys that will break after a couple week
people have been biking without electric motors for over 200 years. just get a regular one... I had one for a while, and never really turned the motor on, as getting up hills by myself is just so more satisfying.
unless the e-part REALLY is the deciding factor between you biking or taking the car/bus, I guess.
Also, if you live in any kind of city (population of +180k) your e-bike is just bound to be stolen by eastern-europeans. You'll have to carry around a cumbersome 10kg rigid steel lock.
I don't think OP needs to worry much about Eastern Europeans, what with being a burger.
Oh no, I’ll travel across the ocean just to steal his bike.
we have Black folk over here
Precisely.
>people have been biking without electric motors for over 200 years. just get a regular one
people having been using wagons without engines for over 200 years. You dont need a car.
Perhaps the stupidest comparison I've seen in all my years of browsing IST.
because loading your bike into your car and driving 30 miles to the bike path trailhead is cheating yourself, fatty.
You should be pedaling there as hard and fast as possible.
e-bikes are restricted to <30 km/h in my country. Otherwise they'd classify as mopeds and you'd need to pay taxes and insurance etc. and have license plates on it.
I used to have one when I lived with my parents. I moved to a forest with lots of good hiking trails in 2015, and I found myself never using the bike. But I've been considering getting another one - a fuctional one with a huge basket front and rear so that I have an incentive to use it for shopping runs into town.
>/n/
I have a job where I get free use of the public ebikes and I only use my car to get groceries and haul shit now. Granted I don't have to worry about fixing them or locking them up as I would if I had my own. As long as you don't live in San Francisco or Pittsburgh or an area with that kind of terrain, a regular bike will do you just fine, and you won't have to worry about doing cardio
Regular bike = IST
Electric bike = /n/
