this one looks like a rip off of Canondale's 2013 CX model. But it has a drop bar instead of a straight one

for the 500€, you're better off getting a decent second hand bike. If not, absolutely do not spend 500€ on that KS cycling imperious. I mean, the fucking cassette is rusted in the product picture. That thing will kill any desire you might have for cycling.

Go for Triban RC120 if you absolutely want new and only have access to Decathlon.

not sure why people hate ks cycling, i can't even find a video review on youtube

        >500€
        >11kg

The thing is less expensive than a shimano 105 group and is two times heavier than an actual bike. I don't really know this brand but Decathlon has some ok road bikes if you want new for cheap. Otherwise look for a nice second hand

You're probably right to advise against the purchase but look closer at the cassette anon. I think it's a metal with a metallic coating on it that a roastie would call champagne colored

like said, go for a decent second hand bike if want to get into cycling. A decent second hand bike is often still better than a shitty or mediocore new bike.

I have the grvl 120 and it works well. I'm primarily a mtber but bought this one for commuting because I had spare parts for the 1x10 drivetrain. It works well enough. At the time it was cheaper than used bikes

Just buy a dank 70s road bike made in Japan and not that Taliban shit

You're better off buying a pre-owned bike really, within this price range
Triban could've been ok if not for a 1x drivetrain, forget about uphills... Upgrading is an option sure, but why bother if you can just buy a 2x bike?
Never heard of the other brand so no idea

Spend 1000€ and you get something that isn't complete garbage.

OP, it doesn't matter at all. The bicycle is a simple machine, nothing of significance has changed in 60 years.

      Buy a used bike.
If you REALLY don't want to do that get a single speed with a coaster.

60's and 70's bikes are great but it really depends on what he likes.
Never been a fan of the downtube shifter(can't remember the correct name).
Also they had a bajillion BB sizes back then. French ones, italian, american, etc.

      Not true
      >more tire clearance
      >more gear options
      >integrated shifters
      >larger, stronger, lighter tires
      >stiffer, cheaper, better ride quality frames
      >HUGE geometry improvements
      >wider, stronger, lighter wheels
      >superior hub engagement
      >disc brakes
      >electronic shifting
      >thru axles
Small changes when looked at one by one, but if you add them all up it’s night and day difference.

BUY A USED BIKE FROM 2015 or newer

With all that said I still prefer my 80s steel vintage rim brake bike over my new big name carbon disc 12s fancy shiny bike.

Go look for a park nearby with lots of grass or any other soft underground to learn it. Yes, you will fall off your bike lots of times before you get the hang of it.

If I can learn at 6 years old you can learn at 20.
      Remember
      >speed is your friend
      >start next to a pole
      >start with a lower seat(easier)
      >push pedal first then plomp ass on seat
      >look where you are going
      >squeeze brakes progressively, not abrupt
Just some random tips I have.

If you're IST you want a fixed gear. Whatever you get, decathlon is great. I don't know how they do it but it's always intermediate level gear for the same price as chinese garbage.

I saw that triban in decathlon and it's garbage, it will break within 5000km

Get a good seat with a nut/prostate gap, and a wide ass clap area so you're not sitting on your nuts.

When going for a shimano specced road bike you'll want at least a Claris drivetrain.

Cycling snobs will scoff at claris but I personally find it pretty great for the price.

2000s bike with 9speed DA or Ultegra will be just as good as new heavy expensive chinamade Claris

Just get the cheap one. It looks better at least. But, if you're willing to settle for 7-speed that suggests you really don't give a shit if it's a road bike so maybe check out some hybrids which are typically more comfortable. Road bikes give up completely on suspension because those fags just care about how fast they go as if they are in some sort of race and not just out for a bit of exercise.

Anything that ships with stem shifters in 2023 is worthless department store junk.
