I've heard one needs to ditch carbs to fully get shredded

No u dont but carbs cause water retention in ur body. Unless ur stepping on a bodybuilding stage for a competition u dont need to go to such extremes. 7% is insanely shredded and not recommended for aesthetics or life if ur not competing.
In essence, CICO is still king and will get you to your desired bf target but be realistic.

If ur a natty at 7% you will look small as frick and the caloric restriction it puts on you will most likely make u lethargic and possibly tank your test levels as well. Why do u wanna hit 7%? You will look better at 12-15% bf

You mean caloric deficit is proven to lead to weight loss regardless of whether or not Keto is used to achieve said deficit? Yeah we know. If you're claiming that Keto is a magic diet which causes weight loss regardless of caloric intake, then no you're lying.

Basically. Keto's fine, the problem is lardasses see that they can eat dairy and meat, think "wow, I can eat anything I want as long as it's not bread!", then proceed to eat 30lbs of bacon and chug 10 strawberry milkshakes and sit on their asses doing frick all. It's like the SS/GOMAD morons who have no idea what the hell they're doing and gain 40 kilos. Keto's only specifically nice health-wise if you have a risk of the beetus and can't into carbs because blood sugar. Pretty much anything else can be attained by a diet that isn't shit + carb cutting when necessary.

said, any caloric deficit will let you drop body fat levels, the speed just varies. If you have no idea what you're doing, there's like a million "what I eat in a day" videos by people who lift regularly. Find one with a body you want and a routine you follow and see if they have any meals up.

The best diet is the one that works for you. If you like keto then go for it, if you don't then it is not necessary. As the first poster said, all you need is caloric deficit, how you go about achieving that is your call.

I have gradually increased my sugar consumption since getting fit. I never used to like it before (never drank soda or ate candy etc.). My consumption if sugar has nothing to do with addiction as I'm not an amerifat. If you are lifting hard you are putting your body under stress. The one nutrient that helps you deal with stress is sugar. Lifting on low sugar, or low carb, is a surefire way towards injuries and mental issues in the long run.

Keto is not magic. It's biggest advantage is how simple and easy it is. If you are active you can eat any real food get to 7%.

Calculate your BMR, figure out roughly how many calories you burn a day. Eat 500 less than that a day to lose 1lb/week. Keep this up until you reach your desired bodyfat %. I'd recommend having an accurate way to measure your bodyfat, because you probably won't notice the difference visually.

Now, what are the benefits of not doing keto/if?

                Anonymous

Literally all of these are about fasting, not keto. To claim these are benefits of keto alone (what everyone in this thread was discussing this entire time until you slipped "IF") is blatantly misleading. Merely cutting carbs out of your diet will not give you ANY of these benefits, and most of them will apply during an extended fast even if you eat carbs (aka NOT KETO) on your re-feed days.

                > what are the benefits of not doing keto
You get to eat carbs, which taste good and are everywhere making carb-avoidance an extreme hassle.

Shoo, go be a Black person somewhere else.

I agree with that, I just don't like the cultists who claim it's magic or the only valid diet or try to conflate it with fasting. My diabetic aunt is doing keto and she likes it, i'm happy for her but I certainly wouldn't ever do it and I know plenty of people who have lost weight without it.
