I'd really appreciate your advice on this - I want to get a rowing machine for home, any brand/manufacturer recommendations?

I'd really appreciate your advice on this - I want to get a rowing machine for home, any brand/manufacturer recommendations? As long as I can use it a lot without it falling apart, and it has high resistance options, I'm willing to consider any price range. Foldable would be cool, but not essential.

Used a little of my costco rebate on the exact one in your picrel. Overall it's fine. The bluetooth functionality is a little wonky, and I hate the way it folds.

Concept 2 is the only answer. Have had one for literally 15 years and have thousands of miles on it.

The first one my gym bought has over a million kilometers on it. They call it “one”.

Gotta go with concept 2 on this one. Good pricing, high quality manufacturing, and convenient ordering process. Its definetly a game changer!

Concept 2 is the only answer. There's a reason they're the choice of even commercial and CrossFit gyms where dipshits with poor form are gonna use them: they're bulletproof as frick compared to competitors.

Is this really better exercise than a treadmill?
I have a home gym and getting non pro fitness gear isn't a monetary object for me.

Even if it isn't it feels fricking great and is loads of fun unlike a treadmill, plus low impact on joints.

I feel like it is if you use correct form and remember to also use your legs when you row.

I've only used a concept 2 but I don't see this thing breaking in my lifetime. Maintenance is basically windexing the rail once a month.

It's already been said, but the answer bears repeating. Whenever the question is "What rower should I get?", the answer is always "Concept 2".

Lmao. I'd step into your garage while you're piddling b***h weights and scare the frick out of you just to say hello and go about my business and you wouldnt do a single fricking thing.

    Just go with Concept2 really
The absolute monopoly they hold is kind of a bummer
But if you can't afford adventuring through different brands, then just go with the industry standard

Not OP but can rowing work as my main source of cardio? I hate running but rowing for 20 or so minutes while listening to a podcast is great

for everyone in here who replied with C2, did you look into WaterRowers at all? really wondering what their relative strengths and weaknesses are

also, did anyone by chance save this 'Why Do I Feel So Good All The Time' infographic from the Dopamine Laziness Psychology thread yesterday?

Accidentally closed my tab that had it and would you know it the thread 404'd.

I went with a water rower.
      Pros
      >sounds nice
      >seems a bit quieter than C2
      >looks like good furniture when vertical against the wall in my apartment
      Cons
      >potential leaks
      >maintenance to keep water clean
      >bungee cord provides the "return" resistance seems like a weak point
If I did it again I'd go with the concept. It would have been cheaper, and ot may be a personal thing but it feels way more comfortable to row on the C2.
The lmly saving grace do with the water rower I have is that looks great with the wood, and it's makes a peaceful noise that doesn't irritate my wife like the C2 would. Performance tho, it just feels off to me.

I did check on them while doing my investigation - I had my eye on an Adidas R-21 water rower

That particular model has zero reviews online, so I checked reviews for other water rowers. The usual issues were
      >You have to drain it from time to time or the water gets moldy and nasty
      >Wood/plastic parts, some part ALWAYS breaks

The second complaint is very fricking important, and it's very common on most brands. That's not the case with the C2

On damper 3-4 it's really not as loud as people say or YouTube vids show

        >drain it sometimes
I've had mine for 4 years and haven't had to drain it. It's stored in full daylight (conditon for highest potential for algea/mold/whatever growth) and I haven't had that happen.
I filled it from the get-go with distilled bottled water and I do believe that's important.
For maintenance I do add chlorine pills, either from the manufacturer or Aquatabs like campers use every 4-6 months.
So far no leaks either, but I do worry about that eventuality.
Mine is built pretty heavy and durable, but the pull strap and the bungee cord that retracts the handle will be a pain to replace one day.
Although I suppose there are replacements that need to be done with the C2 as well....
