Idk why you feel like recommending adjustable olympic dumbbells
The plates are too large in diameter ROM is limited, if you use smaller diameter plates they're too wide and you won't get the enough weight on the collars
You'll be spending 60-70% of the cost of a full dumbbell rack so why not spend the rest to get proper dumbbells that were designed with a proper ROM/weight balance
I’m sorry that I fell for this meme should have gotten those white label chinese hex dumbbells in the first place even with their retarded convex handle and the necessary space
you can use oly plates on your barbell too, that's their big pro
of course if you only curl 5 lbs it doesn't matter
The only reasonable adjustable dumbbell is that watson one but it's basically a UK exclusive not worth after tax and shipping it's bare steel
do those rogue clamps do the trick? my nylon clamps are always slipping off
they seem well engineered/durable
there's one guy on youtube who tested it by loading plates on the end of a barbell and jumping on it and the collar didn't move
they have plastic parts but that's important for strain relief
i would trust them for overhead movements, the entire point of expensive collars tbh
youtube home gym for under 500 usd race mix moron wins again over "weaponized autism" IST
If I ever get a home gym, I will just ditch dumbbells entirely. I only use them for lateral raises right now. I think I could manage, barbell autism has become very advanced, apart from the lateral raises I only use barbells or BW+weight. I could sub the lat raises with upright rows.
You can just do lateral raises with plates, works finger strength too.
You can replicate almost every unilateral movement with a landmine anyway. Dumbbells are nice to have but not absolutely necessary.
Anyone remember the brand that makes those cool adjustable dumbbells -plex something?
I may buy those soon
found them, bowflex
I spent $99 on Titan loadable dumbbells and love them
Bro if you don't buy OLINPIC GEAR ALL THE TIME youa re dyep bro trust tme brooo
>and the neccessary space
space taken up by stuff is a running cost
Hey IST
Why aren't pl8s made of lead?
>cheaper
>heavier
>no health issues as long as you don't melt it into a pot and use that pot to boil your wine
because lead is a rarer metal than steel and is a neurotoxin
while its mostly stable, its like an antique uranium glassware - kinda safe but you're better without it
also if you dropped the barbell wouldn't the weight deform because lead is malluable? or is that just when its really hot, like in a bullet
I dunno I've never seen lead (lifting)weights.
>The plates are too large in diameter ROM is limited
no, you're just too weak
i took an oly db, and got calibrated plates for it
calibrated plates per side:
4x 10kg
1x 5kg, 1x 2.5kg, 1.25kg, 1kg, 0.5kg, 0.25kg
can make 65kg dumbbell each,
adjustable in 0.5kg steps each
10kg plates are 32cm diameter, only 18.4mm thick
cost me 1800 euros for 2x105kg dumbbells, adjustable in steps of 0.5kg
now imagine you had to buy dumbbells all the way from 5kg to 105kg, 2 of each, in steps of 1kg, cuz they dont go halvezies
>cost me 1800 euros for 2x105kg dumbbells
moron what do you do for a living and how do I get in on it
1800 euros was like 1 year of saving (including half of vacation pay), so wasnt that bad
used to have a whole room in the house for my equipment, but then we had a kid, so had to downsize
now, i only have 2 dumbbells, a foldable bench, pullup bar on the wall, and a foldable dip station on the wall
all in the attic lol
anyway: 1800 isnt that much if you are good at saving, and dont have much expenses
What do your 10kg plates look like? Here in 'murica, 25 pounder can be anywhere from stubby pucks to the full 17.72" diameter.
Usually if you want a 200+ pound adjustable dumbbell here, you just get a bunch of super skinny 10 pound steel plates.
looks pretty snazzy though
i cant tell if you are trolling or not
Own pic related. Hasn't been an issue.
I own these. Made in china.
