If he doesn't have what it takes to train regularly, how can he expect us to believe he has the discipline to read a novel?

It doesn't take discipline to read a novel, just like it doesn't take discipline to watch YouTube all day

so why can't he fathom that books on tape and lifting go together like salt on pretzels.

My gym played moby dick all weekend, because it's in my basement.

Reading a novel is harder than lifting things up and putting them down

don't forget to do a warmup before trying to lift a word with more than 3 syllables into your brain, with your eyes.

Normies dont have 4 hours a week to spend training. They need their 10 hours a week taking selfies until they get one where they look ok.

In my experience the "meathead" stereotype is completely accurate and you don't need to be a genius to see it.

    t. /fitlit/

Everyone is competing for social prestige and one way to get prestige is to change what's considered prestigious. If you're a nerd then it's in your interest to convince others that jocks are not prestigious and vice versa.

This is why people are never content with simply being quietly proud of their achievements while respecting that others care about different things. Every person who doesn't care about your achievements - who cares about other people's achievements! - is a social threat because your "prestige points" are meaningless to them and you are, essentially, at ground zero no matter how much you deadlift or how many books you've read.

It's also why everyone loves to gang up on acceptable targets. It's in EVERYONE'S interest to exclude newcomers to the game so even though fat fetishism for example isn't really any more destructive than steroid abuse and there's not much of a logical basis for opposing it when we accept other things you still get a grand coalition simply because excluding fatness as a source of social prestige is one less threat to your own horde.

I am no longer human, however, so the social dogma no longer concerns me and all of this becomes trite. It is trite to observe that gym rats are as a population pretty dumb; it's equally tired to try and assert that dumb people are bad people.

I wonder if I went and looked in the archives for how many years this same screencap had been posted.

You didn't have to write an essay for what we all already know.

We all know people with no self control want to change the standards so they can continue being fucking losers. Why do you think we have Fat people hate threads? The person in OP is no different than a ham planet trying to convince people she's as healthy and beautiful as a thin girl.

Writing that much makes you come off as one of those reddit liberals who want to say as much as possible to sound smarter than they are.

I read and lift. Lift + cardio for about 90 minutes a day, read classic lit for about 90 minutes a day. These things are not mutually exclusive, you lift at the time of day when you have the most energy, you read at the time of day when you have the least energy.

Been lifting a year and honestly, I now believe this guy was right all along. I'm still gonna go to the gym and stay in shape, but I'd be lying if I said all the hours I've spent in the gym are equally as enriching to my life and mind compared to if I had filled that time reading some Greek historians or whatever. I do both of those things, but in retrospect, I could've gotten a lot more done with all that time I've allotted to the gym.

This tweet literally flashes in my head every time I'm wrapping up a workout and realize I have now spent my day doing nothing but lifting things and going to work for several hours.

      Not all things are intellectual.
So much of wisdom in lterature is about becoming more wise, strong snd disciplined. But that is not a purely intellectual excercise. Many people who work dillignetly towards their goals and vocations internalise a wisdom and mindset that is a world of difference from the general population. The writer of a book like karate do kyohan didn't learn what was required to write that book through sophistry, it was learned through practise. Doing is a kind of learning, one that is often more meaningul than knowing of the concept as intellectually articulated paragraph in a book.

Which is why the this meme post is stupid.

    listen fellas

regardless of how pathetic the guy in OP's pic is, there's one lesson to be gained from all of this. No matter what you accomplish in your life, there is always going to be some gay out there that isn't going to be impressed by it. Solution? Stop giving a shit what anyone thinks and validate your own accomplishments with respect to how important they are to YOU.
