If powerlifters are so strong, why can't they use their incredible and universally functional strength to outclimb a relatively "weak" climber?

Strength relative to bodyweight doesn't really scale very well as you go up in bodyweight. You see this in olympic lifting as well.

From a practical standpoint, there definitely does come a point where mass is so high that it becomes an active detriment to most physical tasks. So yeah, being gigantic isn't really "functional" in most contexts.

Hyperspecialized bodies are generally not very good at tasks outside of the specific one they've trained for.

      t;dr being a 20% bodyfat fatty isn't practical

True, but honestly this is the case even if his mass was pure muscle. As mass goes up, there comes a point where even muscle is just more weight to lug around.

You don't have to worry about these kind of details as a natty, because big/lean/natty (choose 2).

      It's everywhere in nature
It's why an ant can lift 10x his bodyweight easily but an elephant can't even lift 1x

This, same with climbers. A capable physique should be able to manipulate weight other than yourself (most cases that demand strength are exactly that)

    because he's carrying more weight

if the climber put on additional weights to make up for the difference he'd probably climb stronger, or if some sort of comical balloon system to make the powerlifter as light as the climber.

magnus put on a weight vest to match juji's weight and still outclimbed him.

It's all tendon strength, and climbers have insane finger and wrist tendon strength

Because Magnus nervous system is highly adapted to climbing motions of course he's super strong in that movement.

        > Why does a professional climber out-climb some amateur climber??

          No. It's the tendons.

Whatever, his body is adapted to that movement extremely well.

There are thousands of different movements. It's not a single movement, you ESL homosexual.

Lower body strength is kind of net detrimental for climbing. In addition to everything else stated.

There is a lot of technique in climbing plus non-climbers don't have the finger strength for the more advanced holds

Why is Eddie such a fricking pussy about everything? I don't get how a dude that string can get that way with his fricking terrible attitude towards everything. It's like his insecurity is so powerful it lead him to becoming a world champion lifter. It's like the most impressive and most pathetic duality of all time.

      >how the holds felt like they were about to fall off (they weren't)
I went bouldering a few times and encountered one hold which was pretty loose (I'm 78kg). There's always the possibility of not drilling them tight enough.
