You have a study that compares vegans to meat eaters with similar rates of health-seeking behaviours don't you?
Because, given that vegan/vegetarian lifestyles are perceived as healthy, then the average person following those diets probably avoids most or all junk food, doesn't consistently eat excess calories, doesn't drink much alcohol and gets regular physical exercise.
Do you have a single study that attempts to control for these confounding factors? Or do you have studies comparing vegans/vegetarians to the average fat drunken junk-food eating westerner?

    https://www.bmj.com/content/366/bmj.l4897
    >vegetarians had 20% higher rates of total stroke (hazard ratio 1.20, 95% confidence interval 1.02 to 1.40) than meat eaters, equivalent to three more cases of total stroke (95% confidence interval 0.8 to 5.4 more) per 1000 population over 10 years, mostly due to a higher rate of haemorrhagic stroke. The associations for stroke did not attenuate after further adjustment of disease risk factors.

Maximizing for longevity isn’t the goal of life. Of course we shouldn’t needlessly shorten our lives with high risk low reward behavior, but if you actually start looking into all the things you need to do to maximize longevity, you realize you will have to live an extremely boring life, and your entire life will be centered around uninteresting routines to maximize longevity.

It’s not a good idea to only look at longevity as what makes an optimum diet, as if you adjust a vegan diet to be more optimized for sports, you will then not have it optimized for longevity.

Vegans have tons of diseases from their nutritional deficiencies. Haven’t you ever seen how many pills one of them takes in the morning? Vegans are also always on some kind of mood stabilizer or antidepressant or something. Hell, they often can’t even go to sleep without pills.

I went to a vegan restaurant for the first time last night. The highlights:

    - You couldn't order a normal salad. All vegetables on the menu were fried, processed, or pureed in some way.
    - The "cauliflower wings" were far too spicy hot to eat- they tried to cover up the lack of flavor of the fake wings by adding stomach-churning levels of spices. Everything ordered was far too spiced or salty, come to think of it.
    - The fake steak on the menu was $45. It wasn't even meat, and they were selling it for $45.
    - The meal came to $50 per person, after a 20% required gratuity was added to the bill, for a few appetizers and entrees.
    - Our waiter was clearly high out of their mind.

It was by far the worst dining experience of my life, bar none.

They don't. The reason vegans live longer is because they are always compared with the rest of the population. Vegans tend to have healthier habits than your average wagie (they aren’t fatfricks, care about their fricking diet and nutrients, take supplement when needed, do sport…).
If you want to prove that the lack of meat/fish/eggs is the specific reason vegans are healthier then you need to compare them with people with similar habits but also consume meat.

Almost all the benefits of veganism come from polyphenols that reduce gastritis and thereby decrease inflammation increase absorption.
You can easily achieve the same thing by eating more fruits/vegetables with a heavy meat diet.

Literally and only because of Polyphenols.
Polyphenols are the only thing found in vegetables that are not found abundantly in meat.
So by supplementing polyphenols you can effectively remove vegetables entirely from your diet.

Vegans live longer than the average (American) person because the average person eats like shit. People who make conscious decisions about the way they eat obviously have a certain level of self control and therefore, most vegans don't eat like shit and eat relatively healthy stuff instead. Of course it's more healthy to eat a "good" vegan meal than to stuff your face with white bread, highly processed meats and seed oil based products while chugging gallons of sugar water.

But the health benefit has nothing to do with veganism itself; both not eating like shit and becoming vegan merely have the same cause: Self discipline and being conscious about what you eat.

If you compare a vegan to a meat eater with self discipline who actually cares about what he eats and therefore eats a good diet, the vegan loses by a wide margin due to B12 and creatine deficiency.

None of these prove your claim that vegans lose to meat eaters who are health conscious. Health conscious vegans take a b12 supplement. All this is is saying that a non-health conscious vegan would suffer b12 deficiency, and you quite clearly are talking about comparing standards.

Cattle are only supplemented with B12 when they have been sick and required antibiotic treatment. The antibiotics nuke their gut bacteria that produce their B12.
