So you mean to tell us that in 5+ years of lifting, assuming your max was 315 at 25, that you've only managed to add 40 pounds onto your bench?

And you're allowed to judge everyone else because....?

I don't really care too much about benching but OHP is a ridiculous movement to train alone. I just feel like the risk of serious injury whilst progressing weight with OHP is so high.

Big chest is what Neanderthals, WHGs, and Gallic tribes had.
Small chest is a product of gracile pommeranians goosestepping all over Western Europe in the late Middle Ages and crushing everyone.
Original European is a broad chest BVLL

take a look at the chest of greek statues and you'll see what chests looked like. they even are exaggerated to fit with their romantic conception of the male body ideal, yet still aren't big chested

Kinda, it really depends on your goal. You cant achieve everything at the same time. And strength requires crazy neurological adaptation. If I stop benching, my bench goes down like 20-30kg even if I keep doing machines/dumbbells. If you ask me how much I can bench, I tell you its 140kg because thats how much I can bench but there is a caveat. Its not like a bicep curl, it requires me to have a 4 week peaking program and I can bench it after those 4 weeks but I cant just show up in jeans and a t shirt and lift it.

But yeah if you actively pursue a 3pl8 bench, you should achieve it by age 25 (assuming you didnt start at 24,9999999 years old). Thats kinda the limit that everyone can achieve still "fairly easily". My point is that if you start playing golf, you dont expect to be top 0,0000000000001% in 3 years. People start playing golf at 5 years old and play for 20+ years. Lifting results are actually super fricking fast and easy, theres almost no other hobby where you can reach such an elite level in such short time.

I benched 315 when I was 17. I almost couldn't get it but it was the last day my school gym was open before the world was supposed to end in December 2012, so I had to go for it.

How wrong could you possibly have done it

        LOL

Yeah. I did a lot wrong. Mostly with diet and consistency. Also I am skinny fat, so whenever I did trained, I also underate in an attempt to get ripped, which is a great way to never get stronger. Also did too many other exercises, like inclines and flyes and inclien flyes and cable crossovers and shit. Too many tricep exercies, which just wore me down. Never squatted or dedlifted, so I didnt relaly get any bigegr in geenral.

Lanklet with skinny fat, fear of getting fatter, inconsistent, focused on cardio, no squatting, failure to focus on strength rather than "looking good".

Repeat ad nauseum for thirty years (ages 14 throu about 41) and there you go.

Quite literally Starting Strength changed my mentality and everythign else. I began focusing on training systemically, not just exercising to exhaustion and prioritizing strnegth, while also learning how to squat and dealdift (they really do make the whole body larger and stronger).

Unfortunately, by then I as in my forties and sloppy obese, so I had to cut down voer 100 pounds of bodyfat. So Im old,. fat, weak low test, etc. But with consistency, better nutrition and progressive overload, it eventually happened.

I learned a lot over the years.
