I've always heard that the glutes are the biggest muscle, and quads do more for overall thigh size than hamstrings.

the biggest muscle in your body is your brain. I prescribe that you train it by making 10 sets of 10 shitposts online every day to strengthen it.

Recently did some good mornings and they wrecked my hamstrings. Don’t know why they’re not shilled more. Felt like the muscle was pulling apart.

ok, so which muscle do you use to contract the knee like in op?

            Anonymous

You use hamstrings either way, during good mornings, deadlifts and leg curls.
There's a catch though, but I want you to figure it out yourself.

              Anonymous

the catch is you use hamstrings only for stablization during deadlifts
to actually use hamstrings you need to do hamstring curls like in op

                >the catch is you use hamstrings only for stablization during deadlifts
this is objectively false, your hamstrings are one of the prime movers if you don't deadlift like an idiot

then how can you explain that the dont contract during deadlift?

Yeah I haven’t worked legs in the past week cause I don’t want to push it and tear something. Today’s the first day it feels 90% fine, I’ll probably give it a few more days. Just wondering how I’m supposed to train that one part of my hamstrings if I have to take a week off every third time I do leg curls

                train abductors, adductors and calves?

Hooooly shit your hamstrings serve multiple functions, they extend the hip as well as flex the knee please read an exercise anatomy book

Nordic curls are superior to any other hamstring exercise.

Nordic curls are just bodyweight Leg curls that are hard to scale.

        >hard to scale
What do you mean by this? Hard to put an actual "weight" value on them? Why does that matter? If you're trying to get a workout, it doesn't. If you're just an ego lifter chasing a number, it does and your ngmi.

Same thing as advanced calisthenics movements.

          >If you're trying to get a workout, it doesn't.
Then it shouldn't matter which one of leg hinge exercises you're doing.
Also following that logic can bring us into discussing whether you're a dyel or not, so I'd rather not.

you could use an adjustable weight vest or just do weighted negatives holding small plates people have done it.

You can use a resistance band to make it easier and use a higher platform so youre only doing partial reps to make it easier.

Ignore the knee pain until it goes away?
Should I cut down the weight on squats when it hurts? I was doing working sets in the low 300s for 6 reps but since it’s started bothering me even the bar hurts (pain gets worse but only slightly as I up the weight)

you should feel no pain, just take a rest day and work on your forearms or something
no need to cause injury from overtraining to be honest, you got time

Your quads are the largest muscle in your body. Followed by glutes. Hamstrings probably are 3rd or 4th.
