if you have a "nice" physique but don't do any type of physical art which manifests as beauty then your pursuit is vain and devoid of meaning. yes, lifting for its own end is still beneficial in certain ways, but ultimately our physicality was created for movement. the form is reflective of function, and if there is no function, then your physique is really a simulacrum of what it is intended to be.

physical arts can be broken down into two basic categories. masculine arts, which are competitive, and feminine arts, which are creative. both manifest beauty in the world. examples of masculine arts are martial arts (grappling, striking, mma, etc.), rock climbing/mountaineering, even ultra long distance running or cycling, strongman, hell even crossfit and powerlifting to a certain extent. the defining feature is that there is a competitive aspect, either man v. man or man v. nature, in an objective, measurable fashion.

the feminine arts are different, in that it is movement for its own sake, with the intended experience being beauty as awe. these include dance (especially the physically impressive styles like breakdancing), yoga, gymnastics, parkour/tricking, etc. bodybuilding is very loosely in this category, but only certain athletes actually manifest this quality in their performance---Kai Greene comes to mind. most bodybuilders are merely robots, who flex and pose in a soulless way, lacking any type of deeper emotion or divine physical embodiment.

for a man to be complete in the self-realization of his physicality, he must become proficient in both a masculine and feminine physical art. what physical arts do you plan to become a master in? or are you merely Narcissus staring at his own reflection in the water?

to clarify, the lists of masculine and feminine arts given are not exhaustive, they are just examples used to illustrate the properties described.

I hate these internet homosexuals who didn't go to church or have strong family ties during their childhood so they compensate for it with their autistic neo masculine trad philosophies they made up on the back of a napkin and preach about how it's the one true way to live your life. Bonus points if they start inventing some schizo explanations with fancy tenets for common everyday behaviour because they are too autistic to understand how people act without their dumbass philosophy.

a form without function is a tragedy. I used to be a person who trained for aesthetics singularly, and I am merely warning men not to make the same mistakes that I made

Yes there is more to do in life than lifting weights. Glad you figured it out for yourself anon. It’s an easy trap to fall into when you start out.

yes and the next step is getting comfortable with that realization where it is just second nature instead of a chore so you must take small steps so you dont lose your balance trying to carry all your ambitions, also why you only carry some across at once because it is a realistic and achievable goal.

lifting is silly on its own and you should do things that actually allows you to use the physique you create. something competitive like martial arts and something divine like dance. this is the divine embodiment of physicality.

Lifting is basic personal hygeine. That's like saying brushing your teeth means you have to be a model.

No it isn't. It's a progressive development of physical competence and musculature. You aren't brushing your teeth harder and in more intricate ways every time and changing them to make you capable of doing more things with them.

I've done all of these arts you mentioned. I have a well developed soul and it shows and everyone loves my physique. You're right. Except bodybuilding is a natural art. Man vs nature.

I lift weights because I like looking good and making numbers go higher. It’s not that deep.
