If you were trying to lift the heaviest barbell weight from the ground to overhead, would clean and jerk it , or would you deadlift it then hang-clean it then jerk it?

I'm asking because they say that hang-cleans are easier for noobs but is that only for light weight?

For a 50kg teen female it isn't bad. Can you even push press 160lb as a 150lb male?

I would if I had been trained by a professional coach throughout my life

you would clean and jerk it. hang cleans are easier because the technique is easier, but cleaning from the floor is the best way to get weight up to your neck.

hang cleans get hard when the weight starts to get heavy so you gotta switch to clean and jerk
some people can hang clean ridiculous weight tho

Imagine if he became a wrestler. he could just hip thrust dudes overhead then throw them on the ground. His slams and power bombs would be crazier than Kevin Randleman's or Rampage jacksons

I genuinely have no idea why he focused on the most bullshit niche event in athletics when his combine would get him into nfl or nba

better to be remembered as the best strength athlete ever than to just be one of thousands of big dudes in the nfl

those aren't hang snatches, those are hang power snatches, "power" denotes a high catch postion, and he catches above parallel squat depth

A full clean gives you momentum such that you can catch absurd weight
I would alternatively do an axle-type lift

Starting from the floor erases the advantage of heavy hang cleans. Generally your hang clean only beats your clean once you hit elite levels, and those hang cleans that are heavier than full cleans are usually first taken off blocks (not block cleans, but close). Even so, at the elite levels the hang clean is just barely higher than a full clean. So for most anyone it should be a regular clean and jerk.

      2x 25 = 50
      2x 2.5 = 5
      55 + 15 = 70

She probably weighs 50-60kg. 1.15x bw is elite for women.

Not at all. An elite ratio for women is 1.8x bw snatch and 2x bw C&J.
For the 59kg category, records are 110kg snatch and 140kg C&J.
        For the 64kg category, 117-145.

        I bid 75kg!
        Reds 50kg
        Lil reds 5kg
        Women's Bar + collars 15kg + 5kg = 20kg
        50kg + 5kg + 20kg = 75kg
I usually go reds, women's bar and collars 70kg and add on the other plates and change from there.

You would squat clean, then jerk the weight, the same way it’s done in competition.

Some elite olympic weightlifters have stronger hang cleans than full cleans, some the other way around. Really depends more on your body mechanics (e.g. shorter femurs probably favour a stronger full clean)
