I'm 25 lbs overweight. I've tried the elliptical for 30 mins every day to no avail. My energy levels don't allow me to go any further.

How do I go about losing this weight when I have cravings for 900 calories worth of pastry cakes a day and find it /extremely/ difficult not to reach in the pantry for them?

      This man is correct

      Read the sticky
      Lift weights
      Eat right

Your post is basically complaining about how “hard” it is not to eat fricking pastries. Of course you’re going to be made fun of. How badly do you want this? If it was easy everyone would do it.

Start by sucking in your gut and lifting.

I hope you don't mind sharing the thread. I would have posted in /cbt/ but I think it would have been rude to the others without any actual muscles.

I'm in a similar boat to you I think. I've been lurking for a bit and decided to finally stop being skinnyfat. At the beginning, I couldn't even do 1 proper push up. That increased to 2 then 5. I do how many sets until I get to 15 total. I'm trying to push it until I can do all 15 properly without stopping. From what I gathered, people like us shouldn't even bother on trying to think of "special" workouts because almost anything can work and it's just to do them consistently every week. It should become obvious later when we clearly need to add/change our workout.

        >elliptical workout

I don't know what this is. Can you tell me physically what you do? Mine is:

        1 lap - 10-15 minutes
        25 9x2 kg dumbbell squats.
        15 pushups.
13 dumbbell pull ups for each arm
50 seconds of lying leg lifts
        45 seconds of Russian twists
And a minute of planking if I still have the energy.

I think this more or less targets every muscle group? If you noticed, they aren't even because I'm already trying to push for a bit more every time. After I can do 20 push ups or so just fine then I obviously need to change it. The trick is just doing these things consistently every week and I feel physically much more stronger and energetic compared to a month ago when I started. This is pretty much the tutorial phase of working out. I'm sure it's more of a mental barrier than a physical one for beginners.

I hope you are still here! Sorry for the late post. I wanted to shower and finish the rest of my workout. I'm interested in how you go about your training. Maybe we can find a specific thing you are having trouble with. ( besides having the poor self control of stuffing your face with sweets. I also do this as well but I am getting better at it. )

Speaking of mental barriers, the left image is pretty funny and most likely applies to a lot people starting out.

It may be a meme, but I would also recommend cold showers during winters to build up emotional tolerance. Especially if you live in a cold country like Japan. ( it's 2c right now which is cold enough. ) It gets much more bearable after the 2nd and 3rd week and feels absolutely amazing after you get out. I've been doing it for a month as well which has helped with preventing pussying out on exercise.

If the pastry cakes are your weakness then throw them away and don't buy more, obviously.

Don't have them in the pantry. Don't keep any unhealthy food in the house.

Drink only water and black coffee

You are built like you've been in a coma for 10 years and they took a picture of your first time standing up post coma.

Why are you making threads with pics? What do you think people are going to say. You couldnt be more dyel. Go eat and lift and come back and ask questions in two years.

fix your diet, don't buy processed foods, restrict how much alcohol you drink because you got a massive beer gut. before eating anything packaged, read how many calories youre about to consume and stick to ONE serving
When using the elliptical are you hitting a high heart rate and going hard on it or are you doing a casual slow pace? try a HIIT routine to burn fat.
