I'm surprised I haven't seen more threads about this show. It's neat af, and unlike Game of Squid it's an actual competition

The concept is pretty cool but when I watched the trailer anf they went "the best of the best: athletes, bodybuilders, SOCIAL MEDIA STARS" i instantly lost all interest

You lost interest because an ad was targeting a broad demographic? And when you heard that you DIDN'T want to see social media stars fail at physical challenges?
Idk what to tell you bro. It's good tv, although admittedly infested with Korean reality tv tropes. Easy enough to ignore as it's mostly silly editing.

        >SOCIAL MEDIA STARS
they all dropped out after first challenge

Theres so much gear use in sk its absurd. I suppose its only natural that a place so heavily look-ist would have this happen. I went there in 2013 and saw no jacked guys. Went back in 2018 and theres juice heads everywhere.

Considering how women get cosmetic surgery as high school graduation presents, is it really suprising the men now take gear?

        Thats what i said breh

South Korea has the most fake people ever. It is literally an entire culture of deception. I doubt behind the countless layers of cosmetic surgery, filters, photoshop, juice there is not even a human left.

There is a certain uncanniness to a lot of them, i agree. Theres also some truly wonderful people there too.

The koreans need a war to get closer to the human spirit again. A war bad enough that every other need and desire is replaced by the need to survive. This would do good for many nations though including my own.

So does every single 1st would country. Korea just happens to be a top flag

No actually. You can have a healthy martial culture while prospering. People who go through scarcity and famines are malnourished and have baser and simpler minds lower metabolic rates. What the Koreans and the 1st world have isn't good but an organism only fixated on survival is simple and a moronation down the evolutionary ladder.

What would you do to make the lives of people more grounded? I've dreamed that our education system would be more like an army, strict rules, lots of physical activity, quality food. I found my time in the army extremely useful in developing character, everything difficult is good for the soul. Eradictating the internet would also be a great thing to free our people from too much global influence, but that clock cannot be turned back

Yeah. I don't think we can turn back the clock on a lot of things. If everyone is free to choose in our modern prosperity a mass of people will choose to be shovel down junk food, be sedentary, watch netflix etc. That same prosperity has created the greatest athletes ever (think of modern boxers vs boxers from before 1950, or gymnasts as two good examples) As far as internet I think its the same some people have used it to break free from mainstream narratives and access to human knowledge previously impossible (project gutenburg, sci-hub) others just use it for tiktok and porn smut. I don't see any political action happening unless something drastic does happen politcally so maybe your right about war. or maybe a good ole bout of Spenglerian Caesarism.
As long as we're on our current trajectory I see a great seperation happening between people raising themselves properly, healthily growing stronger wiser etc. and the mass of people growing fatter and more docile year by year. I know which side I'd like to be on. There's no turning back the clock the only way out is through and upwards.

The way it's directed and edited it's a bit too staged for me. I had the feeling it was less about sports and more about hot guys/girls to fawn over and (inter)personal drama. I mean fricking hell, the entire first 25 minutes is nothing but character intros and them circlejerking each other. I don't give a shit if Tarzan is a famous travel Youtuber.

i go to the gym with my father and we have been watching this beforehand, it’s fun motivation.

He's my favorite, along with the tall wrestler chick and the absolutely enormous guy with tattoos, reminds me of a Korean Rich Piana

What a homosexual he is. They were suppose to do the first challenge as a MMA combat but in the last 5 seconds he dropped the combat and went for the ball like a dishonorable homosexual

And what was he supposed to do, wait until the other guy stopped fighting and grabbed the ball?

I like the concept but most of the challenges are moronic and the American style editing is unbearable.
