If you commit to a cut, and then bulk after without getting too fat, you’re golden.
I lost 30 lbs one summer, but I gained 20 lbs of weight back in 5 weeks because of binging. I’m working on bringing my weight all the way back down. Don’t be like me, don’t binge

I was 6'2 160lbs in high school. at 20 I got super cereal about gaining weight and lifting. did GOMAD for 30 days, got so sick of milk and started eating chicken and rice 5 times a day, I didn't track my calories 100% but I'd guess around 6-7k a day. I got up to 220, but i had gut, looked like a fat guy who was strong af. decided to try and cut, but I was so addicted to my diet I couldn't, so decided to lift more often and heavier, ripped my supraspinous doing a military press, bar hit top of my head and knocked a tooth out. Doctor said no surgery this time, but 6mo PT. Late 30s now and my shoulder still gets sore, can't power lift, shoulder always feels funny like it's about to do some dumb shit
Stop bulking when you feel or look too fat. Try to gain half a pound a week. Good luck

Was hoping that would get me lean enough but I still have big love handles and I’m losing some mass on my upper body.

It comes back very fast and muscle loss on a cut is greatly exaggerated.
