I’m skinny fat but been hitting the gym enough to have a decent beginner upper body.

Was thinking of bulking and then cutting. Just not sure what weight to stop bulking at.

    Stop bulking when you feel or look too fat. Try to gain half a pound a week. Good luck

      Been doing PPL 4 days a week and an workouts on my rest days from the gym.

      Was hoping that would get me lean enough but I still have big love handles and I’m losing some mass on my upper body.

      So a bulk is def needed I think. Just don’t want to get too fat

        You know, you could always cut down to 10% BF then bulk after. I did a lean bulk but started at too high a bodyfat level and was disappointed. It’s all up to you

            It comes back very fast and muscle loss on a cut is greatly exaggerated.

              Hmm
              That eases my anxiety a bit.
              My worst fear is just going back as forth between a cut and bulk and just gaining and losing the same amount of gains and losing no fat

                If you commit to a cut, and then bulk after without getting too fat, you’re golden.

                I lost 30 lbs one summer, but I gained 20 lbs of weight back in 5 weeks because of binging. I’m working on bringing my weight all the way back down. Don’t be like me, don’t binge

    If not lean, always cut until you're lean, then bulk. Extra fat acts like an estrogen gland and will fight against you.

    I was 6'2 160lbs in high school. at 20 I got super cereal about gaining weight and lifting. did GOMAD for 30 days, got so sick of milk and started eating chicken and rice 5 times a day, I didn't track my calories 100% but I'd guess around 6-7k a day. I got up to 220, but i had gut, looked like a fat guy who was strong af. decided to try and cut, but I was so addicted to my diet I couldn't, so decided to lift more often and heavier, ripped my supraspinous doing a military press, bar hit top of my head and knocked a tooth out. Doctor said no surgery this time, but 6mo PT. Late 30s now and my shoulder still gets sore, can't power lift, shoulder always feels funny like it's about to do some dumb shit
