Im a zoomer but i hate zoomer fitness "culture". Any tips

My "friends" are into working out but they talk about it in the most annoying way. They have this mindset that theyre better than everyone else even when they dont have much muscles. All they talk about is working out, stranger things, and music on Spotify. They don't like guns or philosophy or anything else. I do workout some but they mog me because im a manlet. They keep posting "daddy Noel", and workout videos from tiktok and Instagram. 2 of my friends i know has a separate Instagram account just to show off their lifting progress. [They're skinny]

The local gym that I go to [because it's 2 miles and I walk there because im not that lazy.] Only has dumbbells in it and some basic machines. Is it possible for me to be able to mog my "friends" as a 5'8 manlet and get an aesthetic body just with dumbbells? My other friend wants me to go to planet fitness but i think that's worse.

Yeah. But i can only do the 40lb ones. My friends say that isnt good enough and say how they can "bench 225lbs" with a barbell.

Dumbells are way harder. You can build your chest up nice with them.

Weighted push ups? Push up grips are like 5 bucks. Just put your feet above your body.

Keep using them and you will improve rapidly. Why can't you go to where your friends have access to a barbell btw?

I was able to bench press 225 for one once I could do 12 reps of 60lbs dumbbells (I only use dumbbells and benched just to test my strength)

Lol that's really weird. Usually people need to rep out 90lbs+ dumbbells to get a 225 barbell bench

I managed to bench 230lb for one rep once, prior to that I just did regular, close-grip and elevated pushups

They're pretty stupid. I only do bodyweight and self-resistance training (5'11" 160lbs), but I have a bench press in my yard. I don't feel safe testing my max without safeties or a spotter, but I comfortably repped 180lbs. If can do that in a less than ideal set up without ever training with weights then you can blow past that with dumbbells.

I dont know what that means

      I dont have a driver's license

I believe you’re falling for one of the delusions of conceit. You dislike your friends because they feel they’re better than others but are also obsessed with becoming their superiors to mog them. Is it possible, yes for sure, but who cares, don’t lift to mog your friends and imo if you enjoy working out with a partner I’d say trip to planet fitness is pretty worth.

Yes. Maybe i am a narcissist. But at least im not super annoying. I think the friendship started to die last year. I only like talking to them about business ideas or philosophy. They wont hang out with me, or call, or text. Plus he insulted me to my face too. Guess i will have to get some "new friends". And create a completely new social group.

Weighted push ups? Push up grips are like 5 bucks. Just put your feet above your body.

      Okay i will try that

Dumbells are way harder. You can build your chest up nice with them.

Thanks, I will try to be better at them.

your "friends" sounds annoying and looks like you are not too fond of them either. stop giving a frick and focus on yourself
and yes you can get some gains with dbs and machines but sooner or later you will have to introduce some barbell training

Yeah they dont even talk to me much. Plus my "friend's" clique doesn't like me because they think im weird. My friend told me that 3 of his friends talk bad about me and refuses to tell me who they were. He went to a beach trip with them and likes them way more than me. I just dont want them to think that they were "right" about me or whatever. They should admit that they were wrong.

A little life advice. Lose your need for validation and drop your shitty "friends". They're just going to weigh you down and keep you from making any progress in your life. It's a very feminine mindset to obsess over them and try to "mog them" all the time.

They will think what they want about you no matter what, and nothing you do will change that. They didn't just suddenly decide that, chances are they didn't like you since forever and they have always been petty, gossiping neurotic "guys". And if you think they're ever going to put their fragile ego aside and have the maturity to admit they are wrong, you are hilariously wrong. They will NEVER admit they're wrong, EVER.

How about you just give zero thoughts or fricks about people who want to control or use you?

Thank you for the advice. You're 100% correct. I just have to make myself grow better physically and mentally. So that i can enjoy life without other people trying to manipulate me.

You've got this man, don't worry.
And believe me, once you refuse to put up with them and start bettering yourself, they're going to talk shit. But they were going to talk shit about you anyways because that's how losers like them operate. Frick them, you're better than them.

You will be surprised to see how confident and happy you will get when you don't have a bunch of little b***hes constantly talking down to you and acting like they're better than you.

Legitimately had my mind blown once I started hanging out with people I liked and realized socializing didn’t have to be something you dragged yourself too out of obligation.

I agree with the other anon that you're probably being conceited.
Planet fitness will let you try for free for a day, check it out to see if it has a wider variety than your local gym.
As far as I've seen, planet fitnesses are well equipped with everything except barbells.

All you really need for upper body is a pull up bar and doing some dips. The legs is the hard part to get big with bodyweight exercises. So a planet fitness will have more than enough to get built.

And yes it would be better to be in a hardcore Ronnie Coleman type gym. But you don't really need it to get a decent body.

Literally just outlift them using real methods that work and you'll be great. Hint, these people are not your friends and will hate to see you succeed. As soon as they see you succeed they will try to drag you down so that they can feel better about themselves.

I m a GenX old gay and see Zoomers doing the same stupid bench and curls workouts that I and my friends did literally 30 years ago. How is this even possible? We did it becuase there was no internet containg decent programming advice like Statring Strength, Stronglifts, 531, Madcows, etc. I even saw a bunch of fatter taller "football: player guys who looke to be about 19-21 and claim to be college football players in the gym not doing basic lifts like squatsm, bench, deadlifts but fuicking around with the cable pulley machine and smith machine bench presses - the whole group of them.

Maybe its the constant shitting on SS (and simialr programs) as not yielding aesthetic results. But fricking around with seated dumbell curls and pulley shit isnt going to make some 145 pound skinny fat broccoli head the next Zyzz either. They need to get strong.
