I'm been in the military for 6 months now with 3 months left of mandatory service (not US obviously) and the diet here is about 3900 cal per day (well above my TDEE). It's still not enough to gain any mass in the military but MRE's seem like they could be a super useful tool to bulk when I get out and don't need to burn all those calories. 3600 cal is about 3 MRE's (breakfast, lunch, dinner). They're dirt cheap and require almost no prep, so why don't people use them as super easy bulking material?

there's different options in many countries

    >On average, a full military MRE meal contains 1,259 calories (43.3g of fat, 184g of carbohydrates, and 34g of protein)

    1259 * 3 = 3777 cal
    34 * 3 = 102 grams of protein
102/2 = 51 kilos/112 pounds (based on 2g protein ker kilogram of bodyweight)

gee fucking whiz anon, even at 51 kilos bodyweight this would be a terrible fucking idea considering you're getting 3800 calories per day

if you work a physical job you have to eat that much albeit

MREs are like 7 bucks a pop if you buy them on a military base and even more when you get them online, they aren't dirt cheap

  4. 2 months ago

Because when you eat enough of these you need to sue the brown spoon in the kit to dig the shit out of your ass

These things are engineered to stop you up! You think the DoD wants you stopping with the squirts every five mins ?

Not a good idea. Those are designed specifically to be as small as possible and last as long as possible. They are the anti-thesis of fresh food. If you do want to make do with cheap food like that canned foods can be very cheap, some peas here are only 25 cents a can. Peanuts are really high in calories. You might get a ready-made chicken meal for around 7 bucks that also has 1200 calories. They will taste a lot better and be a lot healthier. The only reason the army doesn't have all sorts of peanuts/fish/peas etc. going around is it would cause a lot of chaos and drama and be a huge distraction.

It's literally goyslop, right? Even people at soup kitchens eat better.

    >nobody posted Steve1989MREInfo yet
    for shame

Because they're overly processed and gunk up your insides. Some of them are decent (who /Beef Goulash/ here) but aside from the peanut butter I can't think of any MRE foods that are actually good, unless compared to other ration food.

What country? Why don't you people make your own rations?

Who /milfit/ here? There's a guy in my platoon who met Rich Piana before he died. Gotta be strong, israel ain't gonna defend itself y'know?

Cause they taste like shit compared to anything homecooked. Also homecooked is probably cheaper anyways.

  9. 2 months ago

Because they're disgusting unhealthy and not actually cheap.

i recommend cooking your own beef and veggies
avoid whatever salty preservative filled shit this is

if it was so great OP would post nutritional label

I can't recall the exact amount of days, but even out in the field you can eat only MRS for a certain amount of days before they have to give you a hot meal.
That shit actually fucks you up if you only eat that so i wouldn't really advise it.

MREs have given me the worst bouts of constipation I have faced in my entire life. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. Actually, yes I would.

Us young bucks have creamy spinach fettuccine if that's any consolation.

MRE23 was my all time favorite. God, I wish they’d bring it back and the jalapeño cheese spread.

MRE's are fucking revolting, not that cheap, and will probably give you cancer if you eat them for too long. Just eat real food.

  16. 2 months ago

You're a retard. MRE's are expensive, full of sodium and preservatives and will make you constipated as hell.

    >They're dirt cheap
    >why don't people use them as super easy bulking material?
Getting MREs as a civilian is costly.
Not to mention that they're literal garbage that only legally passes as food.
It's not worth it unless you're getting them for free, which typically means you're military.

As a civilian, you're far better off with frozen vegetables, rice, beans, and whatever meat you can get on sale that week.
You can easily hit 3600 kcal per day with better macros at a fraction of the cost.
