Is this counterculture backlash from all the posts decrying deadlifts as a pointless ego lift?

Pro tip for all the retads: pretty much all lifts can be a pointless ego lift if you do it right. Pair it with two other lifts and choose a random girl's name and now you've invented a new Crossfit event.

Dude you're crazy. Your arms look like they are barely big enough to support that weight over your head, let alone rep it. But the simple fact that you could get the weight up to your forehead so explosively in the first place is even crazier since it means that your shoulders prolly had some left in the tank, just that your weak point, the triceps, kept you from doing so.

that's a reddit meme, there's nothing wrong with flaring your elbows out. If you do, it uses all three heads of the deltoids

any tips on improving my ohp? i cant increase the weight at all and can only bench 25kg (counting the bar)

I’ll say the easiest thing as a beginner(your lifts indicate you are a beginner) is to follow an actual program and run it till your lifts plateau.

Incline bench, lateral raises, rear lateral raises, arnold presses. Try a more narrow grip. Work your core, maybe you aren't stable enough.

squeeze ur glutes, wear a belt over ur lower back region and learn to increase ur intra-abdominal pressure, also make sure ur elbows are in the right position: face forward and pointing down toward the ground underneath the wrists and barbell.

if u can lift fukk all don't you dare use a suicide (thumbless grip).

          Anonymous

The squeeze the glutes thing gives me so much power for OHP.
I don't know why it works, but it does.

Of all the compound lifts this is least true for OHP. Don't know why a couple of spammers have latched onto it. Maybe because IST in general likes it. Bench would be much better suited for just gain weight shitposting.

              Anonymous

I mean you have to eat and gain weight to build muscle period. Unless you have some disability/illness pretty much anyone can reach at least a 1pl8 OHP with proper diet, consistency and programming. If you want a 2pl8 that's a different story.

                Anonymous

                What is I want a 1.5 pl8 ohp?

                Anonymous

Doable just going to take a lot more work and focus. If you intentionally work on and focus on OHP as a primary lift with a decent program I think a good portion of people can reach that. If you just do OHP as an accessory you're probably not going to get there unless you're gifted.

Can this be achieved at home with olympic bar and tennis ball on one end? Then I can pl8 it and lift overhead dat way
Ceiling frame keeps me from OHP standing
Have to do it seated and it feels like cheating but I still get a pretty good shoulder pump

        >Can this be achieved at home with olympic bar and tennis ball on one end? Then I can pl8 it and lift overhead dat way
If you prop it against a corner it probably will work.
        >Ceiling frame keeps me from OHP standing
Same problem, this lets me do it standing which is a better full body exercise.

Its fun and a good lift but shouldnt be done year round... it incurs a ton of shoulder mileage. Lot of people frick themselves up on it. Best to uilitize lifts with less shoulder mileage to get stronger most of the time for longevity.

Doing them seated and high volume, like 5x8, makes them a great allround shoulder hypertrophy exercise. I do them at the start of my shoulder/arm days and than hit the different delts with isolations at the end.

Isn't seated dumbbell press much better?
