Is Blaha right about chinups being better than curls for bicep gains?

Clearly they're more efficient as a compound, since they also hit the lats and delts, but if your biceps are specifically lagging, wouldn't a pure isolation exercise be suprior?

      >Blaha is already moronic enough on his own without making up shit he didn't say
He literally said "curls ain't doing shit for my biceps" and that his biceps "don't respond to curls," but that he does them anyway.
Maybe he's flip-flopped again, and thinks curls are better?

Yeah because his biceps are full of necrotic tissue because he used to put oil in them. Doesn't mean he said not to do curls.

If you do them a little bit differently they do hit the biceps pretty hard.

I only do weighted chinups for biceps and I bet I have some of the best arms you've seen despite being natty.

    That's proof enough for me.

Blaha definitely didn’t come up with that but adding in some static exercises like holding a chin up will burn your shit up. I think a gymnast gave his program and that’s probably where he stole it from

Why is this even a debate? Just do both for fricks sake, no one is forcing you to choose between them

No, he's wrong but you should be doing chin ups instead of curls.

Pro tip for chin up encouragement. Have your spotter take their thumb and align with it your butthole and chase it so you pull back up. If you fail you'll get your buddy's finger in your ass.

Ive been heavy on pullups and chinpus during the pandemic and my lats and forearms really blew up but my biceps didn't grow much. To this day I still feel like my back and forearms are disproportionately big compared to my triceps/biceps. Don't think it makes sense not to isolate them, in my mind it's the same as saying bench is all you need for triceps

You might think about adding a dedicated arm day

        Anonymous

That just sounds bad to me, unless I buy some dumbbells at home I'm not going to go to the gym just for arms. What I do which is perhaps almost equally as moronic is on pull days finish off with triceps and on push days finish off with biceps, I usually end up doing plpx which feels right to me.

If you were competing in a sport I’d agree otherwise I’d presume you’re trying to look good like everyone does, and bringing up lagging body parts sometimes takes a few weeks or months of extra work. But we all usually have that group that sticks out already that we can probably focus less on so it works out. I thought dedicated core training was moronic because I did heavy compounds and over heads but having one for only maybe 16 weeks so far has been a huge boon

At my peak I was doing sets of 4 with 80lbs or sets of 20-25 without added weight (yeah I'm a manlet) I did all different grips and tempos you name it.

Arms 12.5 in at a height of 5'6. Still tiny arms.

As someone who tried to build biceps with just pull ups and triceps with just dips I can say, they are garbage for building mass in those areas. Just do push downs and BB curls.
