My friend wants me to do boxing with him but i'd rather do Muay Thai/MMA.
Just feels dumb not grappling or using legs at all.
Have 0 fighting experience or knowledge btw.

no it takes more skill to be a good boxer than it does for muay thai and mma
a good boxer can defeat most martial artist, but a good martial artist can't defeat most or a good boxer
lol
He's right
A good wrestler will annihilate a good boxer
go for it dude.
boxing has great fundamentals and instills the sort of discipline that carves character out of you.
this
basically this anon said it succinctly
muay thai gives you a wide array of striking that turns a hardened boxer into a formidable one. In some parts of the world they call muay thai or any variation of it's techniques, 'dirty boxing' because of the elbow strikes, the knees and clinches. Make no mistake, Muay thai is not just fancy kicking, but makes for vicious close quarters fighting with razor elbows and crushing knees.
apart from learning to defend yourself you will be humbled by the fact you could *seriously* hurt someone and that mental burning away of pretense will give you a broader perspective on things.
wrestling is fake
A bad wrestler will annihilate a good boxer
A bad wrestler couldnt get close enough to lay his hands on a good boxer unless there's a severe weight advantage
even bad boxers get into the clich with good boxer and they dont train clinching.
First of all, what boxer doesnt train clinching?
Second, You get into a clinch to stop the other guy from infighting you imbecile
A semi decent boxer knows how to keep his distance, which is what you do when the guy next to you can't punch. Every moron getting his shit rocked will instinctively lunge at you
A wrestler isn't trained to take punches, specially in the head
A bad wrestler would eat a lot of those trying to get close to a boxer
look i love boxing BUT, strikers without any knowledge of grappling always lose miserably.
grappling is OP in streetfights, especially considering being thrown to asphalt will cripple you for life.
not that boxing is bad tho. boxing just excels in one area. and is also good for learning fundamentals.
And wrestlers who dont know how to defend a punch get their shit fricked
You need to know a bit of both to be a rounded street fighter, but street fights usually start and end with punches
>grappling is OP in streetfight
Nah it’s plain stupid. You said it yourself rolling on asphalt is nasty. Plus your opponents friend has a clear shot of the back your head while your dry hump him.
why is the scenario always a mutually agreed upon fight where their friends are spectating and you are alone? Are you in high school?
>why is the scenario always a mutually agreed upon fight where their friends are spectating and you are alone
Because that happens most of the time. As long as you don't break the loose and unwritten rules biting, eye gouges, groin strikes - most people are going to just let the parties whose argument escalated into fists fight - and break apart the combatants when both combatants inevitably gas themselves without finishing the fight and are looking for a way to save face.
Unless it's white vs black, then yeah - a black guys friends will often jump in and kick the shit out of the white guy if he's winning.
that seems like a completely avoidable non-self-defense scenario that no reasonable person would ever get into
that's the only time I've seen people crowd around to watch people have a mutual fight, because it's something children do and not adults, sorry I'm not black
>that seems like a completely avoidable non-self-defense scenario that no reasonable person would ever get into
Most fights are completely avoidable; that doesn't mean you'll never get into one. They start from too people getting into an argument, often with women and alcohol involved.
While completely avoidable, it is nonetheless one of the most common ways people get into fights.
those people are morons with little value for their own safety, and I don't judge techniques based on how viable they are in a worldstar fight video environment. If you have to defend yourself against someone unarmed taking them down is very effective and they won't be able to hurt you from their back. If they're armed, the most effective martial art is sprinting. If you're being jumped by multiple people, the most effective martial art is sprinting.
>I don't judge techniques based on how viable they are in a worldstar fight video environment
Then you're foolish because the WORLSTAH environment is representative of a plurality, if not the majority of unarmed altercations. The most important lesson one can learn is "don't be the guy that doesn't realize he's in a fight until he gets hit."
Usually the person that strikes first wins, as does the first person to initiate the takedown. As MMA has become more popular as the vision of how a fight "ought" to go, bystanders no longer consider ground fighting dirty, and are less likely to intervene.
it's representative of no altercation I will ever be in because I am no longer in high school and not black
This is fair. Don't argue with drunk people or Black folk is the easiest way to never get into a fight. Thank you for conceding my point.
Who said any of that? Just saying you tied up on hard surfaces is good opportunity for some one else to hit you. Are you in high school?
Grapplers aren't on the bottom in a street fight dude. They are wherever they want to be. the non grappler has no say where the fight takes place
I box and this mindset is moronic. No one is trained to take punches to the head, boxers get used to it and stop flinching, but every blow you take to the head makes you slightly worse at taking punches. It's an accumulation of damage on your brain, chins get worse over time and that's why old fricks with a million fights get tapped on the chin and go out.
Lol you underestimate how useful kicks are in a fight. I've been in fights and I've found kicks to be better than punching. I have to get close to punch someone but with kicks I can attack them from a safe distance and if they're untrained they have literally no chance of doing anything.
can they not simply catch your leg?
Leg kicks, homie. If people don't train one or two good hard chops to the thigh will frick their whole day up.
You could apply the same logic to boxing: can't they simply block your punch? Yes, they can potentially catch my leg but they don't know where I'm gonna kick them. A punch will usually land from waist and up but a kick can land anywhere.
Lol do you know how many homiehs get caught out by a simple teep? Yeah nice your squared up you can make your kicks invisible if you have even light training experience. Uninitiated guys will never win unless they brute force their way through your guard which just means you were underestimating them.
obviously staged
>MOGGED
You have to hit a black guy in the shins because hitting his head does nothing.
t. will be on the ground after the first 3 round of getting constant low kicks
Only BJJ tards are more delusional than boxing gays
Then why do they always need 100 rules like:
>no clinching
>no elbows
>no legs or knees
>no wrestling
>no submissions
>no takedowns
>no ground and pound
>no anything MMA related
Whenever there's a mixed rules match. Even then the Muay Thai guy can keep up, if not win despite being crippled 99% of their moveset. You see Black folk on worldstar start seething everytime someone knows a basic double leg takedown and it instantly dismantles their fake, money laundering "sport."
How exactly will a boxer deal with twenty kicks to the shins or getting choked out?
just KO him first
by literally not giving him time to do it.. I've seen happening boxer fighters win most of the time against MMAs like literally make them look really bad in street fights... boxers look simple and effective
Check out Ken Shamrocks fight against kimbo slice a few years ago. There’s no all or nothing answer, but ultimately, might has the upper hand in either arena. The saying big fricks small is the answer, so if you’re small it doesn’t matter because you’re probably going to lose regardless, and if you’re big it doesn’t matter because you’re probably going to win.
between a guy that just knows how to punch and a guy that knows how to punch, grapple, and kick my bet is on the second guy
This is what repeated sub concussive impacts does to a brain
MMA = boxing + wrestling + bjj + muay thai
It's a good sport, but that's what it is, just a sport. If you want something that can be used to actually defend yourself boxing isn't enough you need some sort of grappling experience because most fights end up as a grapple fest.
lol
Lmfao you are delusional
this guy knows boxers wins 90% of the time agains MMAs in the street
Only the GOAT heavyweight boxers fall into this category. Fricks sake connor mcgregor spent what 6 months training and was on par with Mayweather.
You're an absolute moron
Id still kick your ass, nerd.
dick your ass
If your lucky
no
Thats what everyone says before they get a dick in their ass
me, you, yes.
Ill pick you up at 8
pick up these
You dont get to make demands here, bottom.
Connor also had a decade of experience with professional fighting
Sure but he was fine tuned for grappling in an entirely different ring. Its arguable that his experience made it harder to switch to boxing in a boxing ring than some newbie with 0 training picking up the sport.
nah Conor was never a grappler. He's always been known for his boxing, specifically his laser of a left hand, and his in the past his karate kicks.
>sure but he was fine tuned for grappling
>made it harder to switch to boxing in a boxing ring
>mcgregor, of all people
do mmagays really?
I normally would agree with you but as a boxer that had his fair share of fights, boxing alone only get you so far. Learned my lesson when I got taken down and then it was basically over. Id recommend at least working on takedown defense and some BASIC kicks and grappling. This in combination with heavy boxing will make you tough in streetfights
dude boxers have no defense against any attack below the belt, tht's 50% of all kicks and like 70%of all takedowns
there's an INMENSE set of attacks a boxer just don't know hot to defend
even the most basic single leg takedown, without any type of set up or faint, will work againt a boxer
Bruh...somebody whose a grappler would rek a good boxer 1v1.. wrestler, judokai, sambo, bjj ..boxing is good but you need atleast some grappling experience
Do it Black person. Be happy you have a friend that will do martial arts with you. I do all sports by myself because my friends are lazy Black folk.
If you aren't using legs to constantly reposition between punches then you are a shit fighter, period. All the best boxers have thick legs.
MMA isn't a martial art, it's the mixing of them. You don't 'learn' MMA, you learn several styles which you then incorporate together to create MMA (ex. Muay Thai + BJJ).
Ideally you focus on one style at a time. But I can't really give you an answer unless you state why you need it. For self-defense, boxing is the best to learn because it's the most practical and easiest to apply. Any moron you fight on the street will just swing for your head, and nothing will prepare you better for that than the head movement + blocking you'd learn in boxing. It's also very beginner friendly and easy to get into.
Things like Muay Thai and Kickboxing aren't bad but they're less practical in real life along with being harder to learn. If you're looking to get into MMA as a professional fighter, they're both great bases.
Literally all of this is wrong.
>all of this is wrong
>nothing else is typed
homosexual
No
t.never did ANY sort of martial arts at all
You are an idiot and have no idea what you are talking about. MMA has been its own sport for at least the last 20 years. We're at a point where professional MMA fighters often start from MMA, rather than doing something else as a "base" and transitioning to it later.
That’s not really true
there is no "best martial art". they all work and unless your training specifically to compete in something here is what will be best.
1. What is available to you? in terms of training oppurtunities or gyms, combat sport gyms are pretty rare and good ones even more so. also expensive. chances are you will be driving far just to train, worth it?
2. doing it with people. you have a friend to get into it with. thats a big plus.
3. what you genuinely enjoy and have fun doing. a plus formuay thai/MMA.
If I were you I would try out boxing with your friend just to see if you like it as it's apparantly available to you and it will be easier to get into because you and your friend holding eachother accountable/making it more fun. if you don't like it you dont have to continue and can try out the other shit you want to do or just not bother with fighting in general.
How does judo compare to other martial arts? I've always liked the idea of it but have no idea of the practicality of it.
It's pretty fun and does work in actual fights, but against people with decent no-gi grappling experience you'll have some real trouble if you've only done judo.
The most dangerous martial art and say bye to your gains
It's more sport oriented but it's most useful one for real life. If I was hiring a bodyguard I'd rather have the guy who can toss then restrain a guy rather than some wigger spending 3 minutes trying to box some guy trying to kill me. Punches and kicks are entirely useless compared to less than lethal weapons.
Wrestling will take him down quicker and easier Judo is a meme
It's halfway between greco-roman and freestyle & NCAA wrestling. Unlike greco-roman, you can attack the legs with trips and sweeps; but you cannot grab the legs like freestyle. If greco-roman owns upper-body throws and freestyle owns shooting in on the legs, judo emphasizes trips and sweeps far more than other takedown-focused grappling sports. There is also some groundwork and submissions - you can win a match outright by pinning for 20 seconds. But this tends to be de-emphasized vs BJJ because - like wrestling - the ref will stand fighters back up if he thinks it is not progressing to a pin or submission after ~10 seconds.
Of course, there is the matter of the jacket. You either love the gi or are neutral to it. There is no nogi judo competition like there is for BJJ.
Judo is great, but there is a very high skill floor. If you are great at judo you are very dangerous, but don't expect to be able to whip out an uchi mata on someone after only a few months
you wanna get some cardio in without blowing your knees in your 30s by running? boxing is top tier
you wanna learn how to fight? boxing is a good start as it shows easy fundamentals, you can try different combat sports later
you wanna try something thats cheap? boxing is a poor mans sport worth a try
Sam is telegraphing his punches from the middle ages.
Boxing does certain things better than any other martial art. It's always possible to train another one later. If you're good at boxing, you could get good at Muay Thai relatively fast.
Boxing and Mauy Thai each have their advantages. Boxing has much more emphasis on punching and footwork. While Mauy Thai is more well rounded since it utilizes such a wide variety of strikes from knees, elbows and kicks. If you have an opportunity to do boxing with a bro take it. You can always incorporate other materials later. To be the most well rounded fighter I would recommend learning boxing, Mauy Thai, and some grappling art like wrestling or judo. This way you can have the punching and footwork proficiency of a boxer combined with incredibly diverse striking and kicking from Muay Thai. And adding grappling ability will give you another line of defense.
thanks bros ill do boxing with him then
how common are injuries if your not actually fighting, only training and sparring?
thats my only other concern
if i got injured and couldn't lift id probably kill myself
>not actually fighting, only training and sparring?
>thats my only other concern
depends on your sparrin partner. heard some people get KO'd """sparring""" in american gyms
This is rare now days, much more likely to find an overly safe gym than a dangerous one.
Don't get into this sperg war about
>but boxing doesn't teach you to x or y
You have to start somewhere, you can never learn everything and the best martial artists in the world are specialists in one art, go box with you mate and disregard the larpers who want to tell you
>is a street fight you are just going to get foot sweeped and put in a banana lock
number one risk is probably broken hands but you can lower the risk by being careful. Anything else, you're probably more likely to snap your shit up in the gym than boxing honestly
does using the wraps, gel and gloves stop this or nah
you can't 100% eliminate the risk but wraps and gloves will minimise it
as some anon said, broken hands, specifically the wrist. you should learn how to wrap your hands properly and to have proper striking techniques.
Honestly in an MMA/Freestyle fight kicks are fricking useless except for low kicks that disable people's stance, but the immediate reaction when someone gets to the ground is to grapple then in a superior position
Personally I love wrestling
imagine being stupid enough to get into street fights.
This one cut off before he broke his legs too. I always wondered what he said to make the other dudes trying to stop him back off.
>excuse me sir one moment please
That shit was brutal what the frick he just kept going
Black personbrains
i go to sleep every night at 9pm sharp. i make sure i am home by 6pm.
videos like this reinforce the habit.
nobody worth interacting with is awake and out past 9pm.
You can't run away forever. What if some pack of degenerates move next door?
You need to learn to deal with all sorts of people
lol what fricking country do you live in?
England
story?
he stole his darth maul lego figurine
holy shit wtf is there any backstory?
if i remember correctly
if it wasn't in florida
>be in eastern europe
>*probably not a shithole,* but 2nd tier slav country
>encounter blacked-out gopnik who is hammered on potato vodka
>*part of the depressing culture.jpg*
>suggests something taken to the very extreme in offense
>video proceeds, *he breaks his legs too or something.
there is a similar video with a total blacked-out drunk psycho wailing on some dude on a walk with his gf. and his gf just bails and guy gets his neck stomped, overall shit kicked in etc..
>his gf just bails and guy gets his neck stomped, overall shit kicked in etc..
the israelite fears the chad slayer incel
guy on the ground raped the red shirt's daughter or something like that
[citation needed] or something like that
Incel beating up an incel.
Bottle to the head or a good kick and mr read shirt "tough guy" is a piece of morgue meat.
And then bubba wakes you up with his BBC every morning in jail for excessive use of force
I wasn't there so I wouldn't know.
You sound like you have experiance in this, in future please keep you gay prison stories to yourself.
I worked Security at those exact types of venues so yes I was a witness in alot of court cases that resulted in shit exactly like you explained ending up in people going to jail jumping in to save there friends and the lawyers would SLAM them on being excessive against an attacker who is not attacking you.
I would imagine it matters how excessive the attacker is though because red shirt guy is pretty much attempting murder here
Could the attack have been stopped by using force less than breaking a bottle over his head which is deemed as lethal force? Yes it could.
Thats how they argue. I know its bullshit but thats how Lawyers work and they will frick you up the ass if they can
if at least kicking him in the head until he stops there isn't justifiable then that's gay, can't imagine just watching someone get killed with bare fists
Its not about justification. The Law wants as little people injured/hurt as possible with as little injury possible no mater the situation.
As per usual in this situation the only legal safe zone is to not get involved and let police handle it. Even if you went levels of force below what he is doing Lawyers would also argue about your responsibility in some states etc. Law is a fricking hell hole of bullshit
How often do the cops and the legal system actually get involved? It seems like two drunk people fighting is rarely worth their time, nor the DA's billable hours. And it's not like a car crash, where the parties by custom often give each other's insurance information.
My guesstimate would be that the legal system is involved 1:50 bar fights.
Every single time because it was an illegal offence.
You're thinking of civil cases where people would press charges against someone which it probably depends on individual case by case situations
>Every single time because it was an illegal offence.
So in your experience, cops get involved 100% of the time? Is that just colored by, and I may be misunderstanding you, because you work at venues - like concerts which are obligated to have cops at arms reach, as opposed to somewhere where you need to call 911, giving the parties involved in the altercation time to flee.
If you call them and they arrive a report is made. If you have video evidence of the crim that goes in there. If they paid via credit card guess what they know where you live and are probably going to pick you up 2moro morning or something.
IF you paid in cash only
IF you never went back there
IF nobody knows who you are and doesn't rat you out
then you get away with it I guess. But yes the police are interested in stopping crime and if you underestimate them they will frick you up man
>But yes the police are interested in stopping crime
Even if you take a cynical view of the cops, retroactively arresting combatants from their ID or bartab is easy work that isn't likely to get them shot. If you think cops suck and are lazy, this is also the sort of thing they would prioritize instead of real crime.
No, they just have different departments that deal with different shit. The shit you see on TV is like 80% beat cops
Dont really give a shit what the lawyers do to them, it wont fix your brain damage and broken bones
is IST really this dumb? it feels as if most people ITT have ZERO experience with martial arts and never sparred in his life
wdym
Boxing is not a meme.
I was born with a shitty disability where most of my teeth are still baby teeth. Do you think it's okay to do a martial art? I've always been scared of getting hit in the mouth because I have no idea how sturdy it actually is.
yes, boxing knowledge will be useless to you in a real fight. boxing is a meme sport for pussies, learn mma.
You got knocked out by a boxer and now seething about it.
you speak as if mma(Mixed Martial Arts) is a martial art of its own.
It is a class/club on its own though. I don't like MMA but it's like you're insisting somebody refer to a mixed grill as steak, gammon, sausage, ribs and egg.
you have been in zero irl fights and in zero pussy as well
Ive trained Muay thai, bjj and boxing for over 9 years. Mainly muay thai
Im willing to say you havent trained anything for more than a couple of months
After a gun and sprinting, boxing and wrestling is the best for personal defense
>boxing and wrestling is the best for personal defense
If you could only train one, which one should be prioritized?
Boxing, striking first with proper technique gives you a tremendous upper hand
No other martial art will train your reflexes and speed like boxing, as it is the most immediate one. Not to mention the hability to take a punch and fight back
But many street fights end up with take downs, so it's useful to know how to avoid those
boxing you knock someone out and might accidently kill them
wrestling you can hold someone down without hurting them
if i feared for my life id rather know boxing
if im dealing with some drunk idiot id rather wrestling
personally ive done neither, so ignore this post
However, you're forced to intimately get hold of every greasy and potentially armed gypo you get jumped by iand roll around on wet tarmac in dogshit instead of keeping your space and always having the option to distract and start running with your roadwork skills.
>knows how to throw an efficient punch
>somehow useless
>Western martial art: no kicking
>Eastern martial arts: lots of kicking
Why don't white people kick?
has to do with leg length unironically
if you got long ass legs kicking is very useful
if you dont then its not really
asians have short legs, its irrelevant, the real reason is the west saw kicks as very disrespectful and unmanly for a long time and has a long tradition of wrestling and hands, despite that there are some kicks in the west like Savate which is quite old. martial arts simply always gets repurposed, there are medieval/rennaissance manuals showing practical throws/grappling, locks, stomps to the kneecaps etc.
illustration from 1847, french sailors practicing Savate, basically kickboxing before it was cool, using kicks with the boots only.
I prefer to be stable with two feet on the ground, ive seen enough c**ts get their legs caught and taken down because they though they were bruce lee
It is. Imagine a boxer's face when you do a low kick or grab his jab and throw him.
If it's a decent boxer you wont see the punches coming while youre trying to set up a low kick
If it's a drunk moron throwing his hands up, you can rekt him with a front kick
I haven't met any decent boxer to be honest. So you might be right. But the ones I did meet - kick to the body for distance, low kick, grab the jab. Once they're on the ground they're finished already. And you dont't even need to be a decent mma fighter to drop people. I'm not and I did this with people who weight more than me.
Any boxer is done by the time he hits the ground. That's the sport
Ive trained boxing for over a decade. With a couple of years of BJJ and Muay thai in between
I guess im ok in boxing, but to me it was just a dedicated hobby. Eventually I taught the basics to newcomers on my gym, fought in a couple of exhibitions, did ok in them
I got to spar with guys that were on their way to become pros, it's a different ball game. I can make a speed bag sound like a heavy metal drum and skip the rope at a speed that makes people stare in public While I was setting up a jab against these guys i would get rocked by a hook and a cross
There was no way in hell i could attempt a take down with those guys
anyone is done the moment he hits the ground, unless his opponent is total moron
that's ha sless to do with boxing and more with being a pro, every pro will have a reflex on a whole different level, but if you put a pro that knows only to defend punches and one who knows how to set up a takedown, the one with the grappling skills willahve a huge advantage, a kickboxer would be a different story, since the grappler would have to be caerful of knees which are incredible pwoerful, specially if you put yourface next to them
>but i'd rather do Muay Thai/MMA.
Sounds like you aren't doing either, so just learn to box you fricking mong
test
yes boxing is a meme giant padded gloves make defence much easier and low IQ Black folk only know how to throw punches.
All martial arts are memes because someone with the will to kill an no experience will always win over someone who is trained well and has no reason to fight seriously.
Sure dude
Haha yeah bro good for you having a black belt in a sport where you grind on other men.
>shoots you
>stabs you
>gouges out your eyes with thumbs
>bites your throat
Sorry you thought knowing how to kick a shin would have helped with protecting yourself from a rabid human bro, but seriously amazing achievement being top of your class or whatever I'm sure they'll miss you.
a person does not become some insane unstoppable animal just because they're angry. A proficient kick to the calves or a sweep is enough to have your way with some moron.
This
being stronger and a better fighter than some rabid freak will give you an advantage
they and come charging at you full speed trying to bite out your throat but it would be so trivial to just move from their inertia path and eventually end up subduing them
Yeah martial arts cannot defend against a gun, but a gun can't defend against a bigger gun and a bigger gun can't defend against a tank and tank can't defend against an anti-tank missile and so on
Martial arts is not about killing people
Most fights aren’t life or death you favela degenerate. Fricking moron man.
And that's why you fail.
You'd get KO'd before you could even attempt any of that
>runs at them trying to gouge eyes out with thumbs
>gets suplexed on the concrete
Trained people can also do those things AND they can also fight
>you just don't know my mentality bro I see red and the bodies hit the floor. When a nice guy gets angry the devil shivers.
Your brain on anime.
Got the will to kill do you?
I think these anons are talking pure streetfighting.
>someone with the will to kill an no experience will always win over someone who is trained well
In a contest with rules, you need skill at unarmed combat. But yes: killers need only a rock or a sharp poker.
Sam Hyde was unironically like a good father to iDubbbz in that documentary and you can clearly see Ian got fascinated by the concept of being a man, despite society teaching men to be feminine. Ian wants to be a man, yet he's a lion in a cage, being kept captive by Yoko Ono.
I truly feel bad for him, because we all want to be men in the end. And Sam Hyde was a positive force to him
This. It was in fact genius in a lot of ways by sam.
If you remember- the first interaction with idubbz and sam was sam telling idubbz he wont copyright strike if he squats 200lbs. Sam has always seen idubbz as some one with potential to be a man but not taking that path.
When idubbz comes - you are right - sam has him do old school "manly" activities - driving way too fast in a car, cigars, fighting/boxing, shooting guns - it was perfect to (1) take idubbz out of his comfort zone , but also (2) brings out sam's critique of modern society that he does thru his comedy - show how effeminate modern "man" is - a youtuber with a big following , and (3) comes non judgementally to show them how to be a man.
Notably idubbz in part accepts this - he takes up boxing , but is still not fully a man - he is controlled by his gf who is using him for fame. And now sam also , like a father figure, points this out as well
It's sad because iDubbbz will never break up with her on his own volition. He needs to go through a rough break up and maybe he will become a real man
he's been dating her for years and she's soon to be his wife
This video cut shows that very nicely too
Although that behavior is very Sam-like anyway, so he didn't have to try to appear as such to Ian.
Do you think Ian was "out to punk" Sam? I don't think that's the case. If it was, then Ian is truly brainwashed by that woman
it aint that deep you fricking sam hyde simp
>the gods
Holy cringe
>KRAHST IS KAAAAAAYNNG
Mega cringe, American prot scum.
Absolutely seething.
seriously, he was turning into a chad with the fighting, but you can tell he's still pussy whipped
I seriously feel bad for him, but I don't care anymore
everyone has already tried to help him and he acts superior and his echo chamber continue to brainwash him
The best combo is wrestling/boxing
Any high school wrestler or anyone with grappling experience at all is going to fold you in half
look at it logically
there are very few chance you have a good muay thai gym near you
there are very good chances you have a good boxing gym near you
in 6 months doing boxing your will have more progress in boxing than you would have in muay thai if you did 6 months of it
most fights will end after a few punches
also boxing is European
Boxing like every martial arts has some really cool skills that are perfected because of the rules etc.
Boxing for example has amazing footwork and head movement that can be adapted to Muay Thai or Mma.
Karate/Taekwondo are meme mcdojo shit but they have so amazing kicks that could work in MMA and Muay thai you could never learn to perfect in those sports.
Sambo is the most complete martial art but Muay Thai + Wrestling and BJJ is basically the goat combination.
Remember to have fun. Boxing is fun. Do boxing.
do you want to box? Boxing. Do you want to kick, knee, and elbow? Muay thai. Do you want to grapple also? MMA.
if you want to do muay thai or MMA then boxing provides a great baseline and if you get any good you can win fights in either by being a better boxer.
Will boxing give me the sense of confidence that weightlifting / cardio never gave me bros?
Not to other people when you start being able to recognize who a good fighter is during the sport
but you will definitely feel above the plebs as you learn more skills above them
How many sessions per week are good enough to be able to defend myself on a fight? Gyms here want you to be on it 5+ days which is laughable.
here's a good way to find out. Go to sparring. Can you effectively defend yourself in hard rounds? If the answer is no, more sessions, if the answer is yes, then you're fine doing what you're doing.
Fricks up your brain and you need meme exercises that will destroy your neck and cervicals to strengthen up your neck muscles
Do Muay Thai
Best self defense martial art is BJJ. If you were to get in a fight with someone and you know even the basics of taking a person down and controlling them they can literally do nothing.
Also you can over power bigger people with BJJ
perfect martial art to get your head stomped by his drunk friends
if you die in a bar fight with all his friends around that's called natural selection, boxing wasn't gonna save you
>do a rear-naked choke
>stuck in a tight spot
>encourages the boys to swarm stomp the shit out of your face
>"a-at least i almost made him tap"
>do a boxing/muay thai stance
>the boys hesitate for a bit
>use that time to look for an escape route
>do a 360, moonwalk and run away
sure you do have a slim chance of making it out alive when you're being 5v1'd but i'd rather be on my feet than my back on the ground when that happens.
You say this as though the desperation football tackle isn't something you commonly see - now that the UFC has legitimized grappling as "real fighting" in the eyes of the non-combat sports public.
MT grows a boner whenever someone voluntarily presents their face anywhere near their knees though.
people make it work anyways, you see more completed takedowns on strikers than you do knee knockouts off takedowns. Rodtang vs Demetrious Johnson is an easy example.
but we're talking about a MT practitioner vs a meathead junkie with his friends though.
Not really. While timing the knee happens, there's a reason nobody fights in a tall Thai stance in MMA - they're going to get put on their ass.
>in MMA
again, we are talking about street fights. Someone with boxing/mt experience has a higher chance of getting out of that situation vs a pure grappler who will be stationary if he does engage.
having said that, grappling on a 1v1 situation is superb, no doubt about that.
sprawling is great, yeah. just make sure to knock the fricker out as quick as possible because you're in a vulnerable position and is going to get surrounded fast.
in that case it'll probably work but you're best off just sprawling it and kneeing them as they're grounded Petr Yan style
>made him tap
More like made him go unconscious, people tap so that doesn't happen in regulated fights dumb ass. You can choke someone unconscious standing up as well in under 10 seconds.
There is no single best martial art it’s all down to the individual. You train in bjj but have you ever tried to take someone down that’s trying to hit you? Have you ever trained bjj when punches were involved? A double leg is high risk high reward, if you’re against a heavier person with more muscle or fat, if you fail at, that might mean you just gave them the win
Wrestling is the best martial art
footwork and headmovement will learn you goods
A meme is something that is happening recently, like a trend or a fashion, that isn't really good it's just everyone is doing it. While this meaning can be stretched, it's kind of weird to accuse boxing of being a meme while all this other relatively new trendy shit like muay thai, bjj or even ufc is some normal standard fighting. Meme is the wrong word, however dumb works fine, due to the slowly accumulating brain damage.
what a gay non-response
It's a 100% perfect response and there is something wrong with you.
It's a good way to get into the martial arts scene, lots of guys do multiple things, plus it builds good reflex
Nothing wrong with doing boxing and wrestling
how can you do MMA if you have no MA at all?
I wish I had friends to fight with, especially wrestling
not that boxing isn't a great base for mma but there are gyms that just do MMA now. They teach the most valuable strategies and techniques from different martial arts like boxing, muay thai, wrestling, and BJJ but in the context of MMA. For example for BJJ you're not gonna learn how to be a guard pulling butt scooter in any good MMA gym, they'll teach you to take them down, pass guard, and ground and pound and set up submissions. You'll learn striking from muay thai and boxing but with a more balanced stance instead of a long boxing stance which is weak against leg kicks or a squared muay thai stance which is weak against takedowns. People that are growing up now specifically doing MMA that can fluidly blend everything together are going to be very dominant.
>but there are gyms that just do MMA now.
That's true, but OP's friend isn't doing MMA
Boxing is not bad for a beginner to condition their body to fighting.
it's how I'm starting I'm just gonna have to deal with the fact that I'm gonna get grapple fricked for a while by people that probably can't box with me
Not necessarily? There is a real thing with simplifying what you do and practicing one thing more and more which is what boxing forces you to do. There's stories where guys get a punch so hard that with one that they knock the other guy's eye out of its' socket. Though boxing may take it a little too the extreme. Muay thai/kickboxing seems like a good alternative
P.S.
Also if you wanna learn to fight then mma or BJJ for grappling is probably good because no matter how good of a boxer you are if you're on the ground and can't get the guy out of your guard you're gonna get hurt real bad
eyes don't just fall out of sockets, I watch a lot of true crime and I remember a serial killer who tried to remove the eyes from one of his victims but gave up because it was too difficult.
The best training BY FRICKING FAR Is Sparing.
Just going at it with another human who is resisting the shit you're trying to do to them.
Because the reality of streetfight bullshit is that its WAY too dynamic for any 1 style to be better than others.
The only real benefit you should be focused on is being able to know what the frick is exactly going on and what you need to be doing to lessen the bad shit happening to you and increase the bad shit happening to them.
You can do ZERO of those 2 things without actually fricking training in any given style.
Grappling mogs striking when its 1 on 1 and the distance is close (it fricking will be if you're close enough to punch me im close enough to grab you and there is a high fricking chance that whoever is attacking you doesn't know how to manage distance and will just Black person rush you with haymakers) Grappling is also based because you can go at it every day and not get fricking CTE by the time your 23.
A grappler can still punch/kick/elbow without the need to be taught how to do so.
H O W E V E R
IF you are going against a trained person you need both. IF they know how to kickbox and stay on there feet THEN and ONLY THEN does it become super dangerous to try and taken them down and wrestlefrick them into the pavement
IF they have freinds, fricking run away. If they have weapons, run away.
No comment needed
If you are training to learn how to fight in self defense but you don't carry a gun on you then this is all a LARP. I've seen enough street fight head stompings to never take and chances and I'd rather blast a Black folk lungs out of his chest than exchange slaps with him until one of us drops. If a person is really committed to getting into a fight with you, chances are they won't have the self-control to stop themselves from mutilating your body if they knock you out. Just kill the fricker if he pushes it.
