Is calisthenics legit?

Recently got this guy's shorts on YouTube randomly and it was really impressive the way he effortlessly does pull-ups he's probably 90kg. Is all that you require to get ripped cardio and your own body weight?

      This is true. You can absolutely look jacked. You will likely be lean otherwise it’s slower to progress. It will take you longer than using free weights. If you like the challenge and the more classic aesthetic, then do calisthenics.

      Why is it an either/or type of thing? Most of the best aesthetic bros I know usually have good genes and use both, plus cables and do some other sports recreationally. Matter of fact I've never seen a calisthenics-only or gymcel look very good.

      Why would you take longer exactly? Let's say your body is 170lb. How are 170lb of flesh and bone leveraged in different ways different from 170lb distributed in iron?

      You do know you can increase or decrease resistance by changing leverage, right?

        most people think calisthenics is about doing 100s pushups in a row, so arguing about it is mostly a waste of time, just do your thing and enjoy not having to commute to the gym
        I genuinely think every lifter should get into calisthenics for some time to get some humility and broader understanding of working out your muscles

    Just started doing calisthenics this week and I think I’m officially a convert from weights. After doing dips and scapular pulls on the bar it feels like I’m using muscles in my upper back that I’ve been completely ignoring. The DOMS have been crazy too
