Yes. The only downside to going down the calisthenics route is you will always have that lean athletic look, but you'll never be jacked.

You end up over training your shoulders and getting injured all the time. If you look up routines for 1 skill, they'll have 6-9 exercises to complete. Most people are going to want to be training more than 1 skill at a time and it always becomes too taxing for the shoulder joints since almost all skills require it.
My strongest lift was ohp(67.5kg @ 73kg) before moving onto calisthenics. I got the FL, BL, L-sit, one arm push up, one arm chin up. Next goals was to get the full planche and flag. I've got to maintain the other skills with 3 sets each skill, and then the planche and flag need at least 5 sets each. How the frick is it possible to keep learning skills without over training the shoulders? Keep in mind I'm still training dips, chin ups etc

    >build strong dense muscle instead of weak puffy bodybuilder muscle

This isn’t true, you can still be a gross, hulking bulktard with relatively high body fat while doing calisthenics. It’s resistance training no different than the gym. It happened to me which is why I stopped and focused more on HIIT cardio with some yoga mixed in to get a more lean aesthetic, athletic look that I was going for. I hate big buldging bulky muscles, they look disgusting.

This one is complete bullshit, there is no such thing as "puffy bodybuilder muscle".

    The rest is true.

With that said, restricting yourself to calisthenics only is moronic if you have access to equipment. Even a cheap set of dumbbells can greatly enhance the possibilities and makes progression easier. Struggling with headstand pushups? You can perform all the most contrived variations until you're strong enough... or you can just do a dumbbell OHP with increasing weight.

anything beyond dips and pullups, pistol squats has a steep progression curve which will make your body look weird and underdeveloped until you're really advanced

Dips, pullups, Pistol Squats, pushups, and Australian pullups are the only non-core calisthenics exercises anybody should be doing, anyway

    >Doesn't train the largest muscles in the human body.
    Beyond useless, narcissistic cope.
Functional strength and power is generated in the legs and moves through the core.
Calisthenics is as bad as powershitters who refuse to do cardio and cant chin to save their life.

You train them every time you step your fat ass off the couch to go to the fridge.

      Do both
is right. Calisthenics are great for upper body (albeit a bit convoluted at higher progressions) but you need a barbell for legs.

or dumbbells/kettlebell and do lunges/split squats. probably wont get you a 4 plate squat but its pretty good for strength and mobility, esp mobility.
