I can do that for 5x10 and an extra rep, but with one more pound

There's no reason to do deadlift unless you're competing.

    Do RDLs, they're better.

You gonna be a competitive powershitter or a strongman? No? Then you have no good reason to.

Oberst only said this because he fricking sucks at deadlift. "MUH RISK/REWARD" is literally just cope from people who aren't good at it.

              >H-he's better than you!
"Better" is relative. He's a "professional" strongman who gets mogged by amateur strongmen. In his chosen sport, his deadlift sucks.

              how heavy is too heavy?

If you can't maintain a (mostly) neutral back position, it's too heavy. Slight rounding won't hurt you, contrary to what the hypochondriacs on this board will tell you. But if you're rounded over like a horseshoe, yeah, it's too heavy.
              Do your rows.

It is until you break your back. No amount of safety will save you. It's a numbers game. Eventually you're going to hurt yourself.

I have only ever seen fat dyels say this. All the people who have made it in the gyms I've been to deadlifted.

Nobody ever thinks deadlifts will snap their shit up until they snap their shit up. It only takes once.

I love when I see these posts because it reminds me that there are, definitively and without question, people who are inferior to me in the world walking around.

That's what you just said. It's an extremely form sensitive exercise that can easily be replaced with movements that have significantly less chance of ruining your life.

found that weighted hyperextensions, good mornings/RDLs are much better for the overall health of your posterior chain and proper hypertrophy of the spinal erectors and hamstrings, even glutes. you know, the muscle groups you primarily want to target when doin deadlift.
since youre probably not a moronic individual who does deadlifts for deadlifts sake right?

when I run out of weights I just stopped doin deadlifts alltogether, not counting the times I have to deadlift up the barbell to do shrugs. found them to be too taxing with really minimal reward. I already squat heavy, so dont tell me you have to do this shit which has the shittiest ROM of all lifts to be considered strong.

      >too taxing with really minimal reward
Well that depends, what is your idea of a reward?

considerably visible hypertrophy of the aformentioned muscle groups
my spinal erectors were strong but barely visible when just did deadlifts, also had lower back pains from my shitty bad.
my erectors are juicy as frick and lower back pain is gone forever ever since I focuse on hyperextensions instead.

also I dont know who perpetuates this bullshit that deadlifts build lats, yeah you flex them when doing the motion but believing that it contributes in any meaningful way to the hypertrophy of the latissimus dorsi must be delusional as frick. do your rows, do your weighted pull ups/cable pull downs if youre a pussy or a fatass if you want to build lats, deadlift is definitely not the way to go.
