    here is what happens during fasts/starvation
    1. you use up the glucose you have in your body from your diet
    2. you use up the glucose storage in your liver
    3. you start using ketones made from fat as a fuel sources

    if you did the keto diet, then you would eat high fat foods to continue this process
    fasting takes it further

    4. your brain needs glucose to function, I know ketones can work but the brain will need about 25% of its energy from glucose
    so it starts turning protein into glucose
    this will target muscles and organs

    if you're doing a protein spare modified fast (look up Lyle McDonald) then you will eat just enough protein to keep the brain and organs healthy

    so basically fasting permanently won't work
    you will die when your organs stop working

      No. It turns fat into glucose. Hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen, same materials. Protein doesn't get burned for energy until there is literally nothing else. Otherwise, it's used to build & repair cellular structures.

        you can easily calculate daily needs for carbs. eat it in moderation and still reach ketosis without the extreme fluctuations of a keto diet.

      it takes about a week or so to adapt to using ketones and in that time window you will get sluggish and weak
      after that you feel much better

      it's very effective to lose weight and fat
      after that you need to make lifestyle changes

    As a fatty, Intermittent fasting has helped me drop weight in a controlled way. I do a 24 hour fast once a week on a sunday as well. I haven't found any real issues post 6 months.

    moderate fasting is 100% okay.
    IF is extremely useful and also 100% safe.

    Anything beyond 2 days is a meme and does not benefit you. It can do a lot of harm even.
    People argue cell death and rejuvenation of new cells, stimulation of the immune system.
    While that is true there are safer ways to do it involving a more moderate route of increased fasting intervals (more fast per month), but decreased fast time (less days of fast).
