yeah it's pretty fine for me and I'm a side sleeper. I really depends though sometimes I sleep better on my thick futon if I'm sore or something but I can sleep and do sleep on just a blanket if I'm too drunk or tired to pull out and make the futon.

People on this board will talk about how the government wants to take everything from us, reduce our quality of life to mere servants of the state, and force us to live in little pods, but then go and willingly reduce themselves to sleeping on the floor/without a pillow because it's "based".

The less possessions you need, the more free you are.
A person who can comfortably spend the night sleeping outside under a tree is far more free than a person who can't sleep unless they're inside a building with climate control and an expensive mattress and sheets and blankets.
Training yourself to be content with less is how you reduce other people's power over you. If you have a long list of material possessions that you "need" in order to be comfortable and happy, then you are also completely controlled by the people who have the power to give or take away those things. If you need a bed then you need a building to put it in, you need an income to pay for the building, you need a job to get income, you need a car and nice clothes and so on to get the job.

To put it another way, the less conditions you require to be happy, the easier it will be for you to be happy.

This is how I feel about it. The less things I'm a "slave" to, the better.
Like, imagine taking away a person's screens for a week. I would just go camping/hiking with my dog and enjoy the time away. How many could do it?
Or not eating five times a day + snacks or drinking a coffee (Starbucks' ice cream more like it) every few hours?

I slept on the floor for about the first 25 years of my life. I always woke up several times throughout the night and always had to sleep on my back. After I got a good job and a nice place to live, I got a nice mattress. First night sleeping on it, got the best uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep of my life.

I sleep on the floor or in a hammock but I have a nice mattress that's leaned up against a wall when I'm not using it. You can keep it in a nice room for when you have a girl over, not like it has to be out in the garage. Last two girls I've dated just had their mattresses on the floor in their apartments. If a girl is materialistic enough that she's upset that I don't have a bedframe then I don't want her coming back anyway.

Woke up next day after a grappling session and had a stiff as fuck neck and overall I felt really tight. Decided fuck it, Imma sleep on the floor. Honestly feel better, easier to wake up, feeling more refreshed and loose. I guess the hard ground massages my body. Feels like sleeping on a foam roller. Been putting a yoga mat but now I'm gonna try raw.

Floor sleeping for years and years.
I like a bed n mattress just for ease of getting out of bed if you are a cripple or really old with arthritic joints.
However I'm not any of those.
Two blankets folded longways and a sheet on top is super good for my back and posture
My hips have improved and leg flexibility. Use a medium folded towel for pillow, its about the thickness of two sliced bread.
I always do stretching before sleep and some yoga stretch upon waking.
Getting down on floor and getting back up is easier.

    Yes.

I had a horse accident 3 fucking years ago and I broke something at by spine. I had other bone injuries in the past but all calcified and healed alone. My back never got better... Until one day I took a nap on my work laying flat on the floor and had an amazing day after that. No pain at all.. I was so amazed

Its been more than 3 months now and I am sleeping on the floor with q little padding under me and a low pillow for confort. You get used to it and the ground is not that hard. Btw I dont even notice how hard it is now.

I wake up everyday totally healed. No pain at all! Those who know cronic pain know what I am talking about. Back pain turn you into a young old man. You move always taking care to dont bend too much because you know after a certain point there is a sharp pain... It is terrible

Now I can work fine, lift fine and even be on a bike for an entire hour with no pain

But... Later in the day, after a shower... There it is.. a little pain again

Its healling now.. but it is a long way
    This is not a meme

    some places are very dusty

i had 2 times where this happened to me

also when i painted my home. apparently after painting theres a shit ton of paint dust even if you vaccuum autistically.
    so it was horrible.

Apply this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vgp1u6ho3PI&t=27s to your sleeping and see how you feel, I personally his back sleeping method and if I had more pillows I would do side-sleeping as well. I want to save for a floor futon or shikibuton since I know it'll feel good on my back to have that hard floor juxtaposed to that soft bedding. Not a ISTizen, though I appreciate good sleep after not growing up with a lot of quality sleep.

I once rented a studio where there were 5 of us living and I had a camping map on the floor for the 3 months I was there. It wasn't great, but mostly just because there were so many people.
Later in life I got bad luck moving at the start of covid and ended up in an apartment with no bed, so I ended up using the camping map again. Stores reopened pretty quick where I'm at, but I didn't bother getting a mattress for several months after.
