I went to one and they didn't have a squat rack, benches, or any dumbells above 40lbs. Those were the "heavy" ones. There was one impressive twig kid who apparently could do infinite pullups. His bones were so thin his body was defiant of physics amd basically weighed nothing. The rest were fat hags.

I think they franchise. The one in Louden outside of Richmond was probably the best gym I've ever been to period, DBs up to 200, eliko plates, the works. The one downtown on Cary St is a dirty bro hole.

Yeah, the world would be much better off if our buildings were gross mockeries of historic architecture styles (which I'm sure you could identify and name) made purely for their aesthetic value, despite having made the technological advancements to design and construct buildings in radical new ways.

The future is now. People need to get away from their outdated ideas on how building should look

          Anonymous

Yes, this is exactly what I'm talking about. You think this is a modern atrocity desecrating a valuable historic building. That building isn't even 200 years old. Its frame is steel, its stone trim is fake, its columns are nonfunctional. Yet the uneducated pedestrian viewer like you sees columns and arches and thinks "Wow! What an old building!". Neoclassical architecture was to the 19th century what these hideous imitation farmhouses with stamped metal siding are to the 21st century. It's a simulation of a "traditional" aesthetics that the common people associate with wealth and luxury, therefor making it desirable to them. Fake dormers, useless gables, imitation wood flooring. It's value is only surface deep, but that's all it takes to trick you.

I'm sorry, I forgot that based and repilled RETVRN larpers are so thin skinned that they immediately regress to "let people enjoy things"- tier arguments the second they encounter someone who actually works in architecture and knows what he's talking about. Please forgive me.

Black person please... "neoclassical" itself was a revival of classical architecture, classical architecture has been a staple in the west for thousands of years now. The simplicity, symmetry, and the subtle ornamentation have a pleasing look and feel to them. Modern architecture is irreverant deconstructionist trash intentionally designed to distance itself as much as possible from traditional architecture (which all shares common intuitive design elements born out of utility).

I used to work out at that Gold's gym; it's the one in Harajuku right?

It is amazing as I worked in Akasaka at the time; take one line straight there, work out at lunch, and go back.

Yeah, gyms in Japan are overpriced and suck, but this one was open 24 hours (although my membership only let me in between 8 AM and 11 PM,). The basement here usually had a squat rack available, and was one of the only places I know in Japan that had a proper deadlift platform.

Pic related, could only bench 1.5 plates at the time.

Of all the commercial gyms I worked at, Gold's was literally the ONLY one where the interviewer actually asked me anything about training clients. The rest cared about marketing and image maintenance.

    Just a personal anecdote.

I'm in Gold's Gym Munich, it's peak comfy.
There is a discounter gym that's 10€ less directly next to it that acts as a zoomer filter.
That means you don't see those broccoli haired fricks hog up machines while doing gay ass posing sessions in the mirror.
The people that go there usually take their workout seriously and shut the frick up about it, which is already worth paying the 10€ premium.
Also the whole equipment is top tier, plus they have a sauna included in the standard price.
Don't go there with a fragile ego tho, in a normal gym I maybe mog 70%-80% of gym goers while in Gold's I'm easily in the lower 50% physique wise.
In general it's a pretty good gym for enthusiasts, you don't see a lot of normiecattle going there.
