Is gym a old people thing?

>all I see are weirdly ripped middle aged men and eldery people
.... should I just play a sport?

21 is the last age of youth. There is 0 benefit to aging past 21. Name one: I dare you.

Major cope. Every old rich person says that they would give up all their riches to be in college again. Rich people spend millions on cosmetics and anti aging to keep their youth
Youth is literally the only purpose in life. Having kids (youth) is the only reason to live past 25.

Here's a secret. Start taking Siberian Solomon’s Seal, and Goji Berry daily. As long as you don't get negative side effects from either you will age much better. The former makes all your internal organs work better while repairing your joints and muscles. A great boon for an athlete. The latter gives you tons of energy and endurance. A great boon for an athlete.

Older people do the gym because they can't recover from sports. Do a martial art and mog all the wannabe bodybuilders. A black belt is more impressive than a 3pl8 bench considering teenagers in football can do it. IST is an incredibly weak fitness forum fyi

I've used this site solely to derail threads, troll, and as a creative writing outlet. I was an OG /qa/ poster when we could 'jak freely. I didn't start lifting til I was 18 or 19, and got to a 165 lbs. ohp for reps by 21. I log press low 200s now. If you start lifting at like 13 or so you'll be 'stronger' but likely stunt your growth. Height, broad shoulders, and hip width matter more for pure power than numbers in the gym anyways. Most people on IST don't lift, and the few that do lift for aesthetics cause they're short. This forum is for sedentary computer nerds too, so by virtue of that you're going to be weak by not doing sports as a teen as I outlined earlier.

Correct. I am 24. However unlike you I am not sticking my head in the sand pretending aging isn’t happening. I am old and am only getting older from here. Every year after 21 is just another year of getting older, weaker and uglier until you die.
It’s actually frightening how short the window to live life is. You have like 8 good years of life, then the long slow decline until you die. You actually spend the majority of your lifetime experiencing the horror show known as aging.

I am highly active in my life and i could attest it to
                1. Not smoking (anythibg). Tried it all, quit it all.
                2. Not drinking more than 1x month. Yes frick beera and vodka. Ages you tremedously.
                3. Have sex every day
                4. Eat and sleep well. Sleep early raise early, nap. Overworking self for bullshit is meaningless. Overwork when your family and life is at stake.
                5. Keep working out, doing sports etc. Consistency is the key.

Do both. Gym is good for overall health but isn't the best place to meet people. I joined a rugby club after I graduated university. Made friends, got job offers, and you have a reason to chat with women's teams every now and then.

It depends on what time of day you go.

4am-6am - Go getters and people who actually look like they train, they're knowledgable and know what they're doing.
7am-1pm - NEETs doing SS and retirees on treadmills/mountain climbers
2pm-3pm - Very brief period where you might see actual highschool/university athletes
3pm-6pm - Zoomers galore, all hogging benches and taking selfies of their non-existent pumps. Also the first wave of dead-eyed wagies who train after work.
7pm-11pm - Saars, immigrants, coffee coloured mystery meat and the second wave of wagies who are even more dead-eyed than the first wave. These people look like they're about to snap any second.
12am-3am - ??? Schizophrenic powerlifters, NEETs, girls who are insanely shy about their bodies and that one fricking guy you see in the gym no matter what time you go.
