Therapy people just tell you to go outside and color in some stupid chart they printed off from Dr Einkenberg
I told my therapist/psychologist I was raped as a kid and he changed the subject instead of helping me whatsoever.

It can be worth it if you're not self aware to what's causing you so much anguish

Your therapist was serious garbage dude wow

Do men ever talk about being molested and taken seriously? It seems to make people uncomfortable that a big strong man was taken advantage of

I was raped as a kid too, and it's been a mixed bag for the people I've told. Some have been emotionally supportive, others tried to ignore it, and a few select subhumans tried to justify it. Of all the people I've talked about it with though the absolute last person I'd expect not to be the first one is a therapist

Why tf do you care if it’s IST approved? Half the dyels here are mentally ill themselves and could use therapy. If you feel like you need it, then try it out. Works for some people, doesn’t work for others

What do you think they're gonna do? 9/10 shrinks will simply milk you for that sweet appointment money and put you on mind-altering pills that numb you to the world. If that's what you want, go for it. Otherwise, I suggest you either work on the problems that are causing your depression, or accept them if they're not something that can be improved. It's not like you don't know what's going on. What's some (likely female) basic b***h psych student going to tell you that you couldn't either learn through introspection, intuition, or research?

Honestly it depends on if you get a good therapist or not. I tried several over the last 5 years and only 6 months ago found one who has actually helped. If you're having personal/mental issues then it can't hurt to try. Just be aware of what you say until you actually know you can trust them.

I never went to therapy for my depression and anxiety. I had a strong urge to kill myself from the age of 9 or so and severe depression and anxiety. I had no motivation and really saw no point to being alive. I came out of all of it at 24 like I was a new person. It wasn't exercise that fixed everything as I had stayed active my whole life. I had always participated in sports and trained.

What fixed me was realizing that you train your brain the way it thinks and are in control of whether or not you're happy. Happiness can become a choice with hard work. Think of positive thinking and changing your mindset (because there are a million useless things you think are true which serve no purpose and aren't even necessarily true). I recommend training the way you think like training boxing. Be aware of how a thought is incorrect. Let it happen, but adjust your thought afterwards. Your neurons will change and you will change your thinking as it is just repetition.

You can tell yourself that you'd be mindfricking yourself if you trained your mind to look for the positive and enjoy life, which leads to taking on more tasks and adventures. It sounds more like you'd be mindfricking yourself by looking at everything as terrible and something you don't want to do.

I don't want life to be easy. Telling yourself everything is awful and then wallowing in your sadness makes life way harder than it has to be. Besides, life is really enjoyable despite the harsh realities.

Objectively wrong. Your brain is very malleable. Not only does your brain affect your behavior, your behavior also affects your brain. It's a known scientific concept that changing your mindset and thinking positively creates new neural pathways in your brain that make you happier.
You're not truthpilled or intelligent or awake or honest because you acknowledge life is a b***h. The truth is much more nuanced than that. It's challenging, rewarding, suffering, and joyful. That is the truth. You're the one choosing to live a lie, not him.

Therapy is fine. If they try to give you prescription pills, refuse until you've tried other options. Ask yourself four questions before hopping on pills:
    1) Is my behavior contributing to my depression/anxiety? (Sunlight, sleep, drugs and alcohol, socialization, procrastination, exercise)
    2) Is my nutrition contributing to my depression/anxiety?
    3) Are there any doctor-approved supplements that may be able to help?
Only considering all that should you consider prescription pills that affect your hormones.

Also, if a recent life event, like a breakup, is causing your issues, don't even think about pills. You're supposed to be sad.
