Is it even possible to integrate into society as a NEET?

I am already 22 years old, never had a job and been a NEET ever since I left high-school. I feel like my life is over and I will never become a normal human, probably going to suicide.
The only thing I got going for me is my IST physique.

If anyone asks about it just tell them that between 18 and 22 you were a NEET but got so disgusted with living like that you got off your ass and did something about it. It won't be like you'll be a fresh ex-neet. Your years in uni will help get you some discipline and work ethic. Might not be the best place to start from, but you're never going to get a better place than where you are right now ever again.

If your parents will support you try community college. Start off with 1 or 2 classes then work your way back up to a full schedule over time. You'll find that you are likely more capable of what you had thought.

If it is not enough and you find you still have way to much free time, get a part time job for just a couple hours a week. It will help you work on your social skills.

It does not matter when you get your degree. There is no professional field for which a degree is required which would even take you seriously until you're in your 30s at least. The only exceptions I can think of are the military, wall street, and silicon valley, but in the cases of wall street and silicon valley, it's not so much that you're taken seriously so much as you get paid well for your not being taken seriously. As for the military, you can lead a platoon at 22 so that's different. Go to school for whatever you want, if that's what you wat. But I'd just challenge you to really think about whether you even want a formal study or the degree it confers. If so, why? To code? You don't need a degree to code. To own a business? You don't need a degree to own a business. A degree is only worthwhile if you know you want a run-of-the-mill 9 to 5 professional job. If you don't a degree has no value at all.

Don't put anything that will give away your age on your resume. Just put your university degree and the projects you worked on (outside of school). If they ask about any work experience just lie and say you have some but in an unrelated field / something insignificant like mcdonalds and didn't think it was relevant so didn't mention it.

Hello. While I wasn't a true NEET (was in college throughout this time) I constantly failed my courses and went part time while spending my free time at home playing video games and lifting for a good part of 10 years after I got out of highschool. I finally graduated with an engineering degree, then it took 1.5 years of half-assed job searching (while continuing to play vidya and lift) until I finally got a job. People will hire you, they don't give a shit about your age and most places don't even bother to ask. I look really young for my age so people thought I was 23 when I started working here. You can make it work. 22 is nothing.

OP, you need to get a job. That is step one, the most crucial thing. You need to wash yourself, dress in clean clothes and go to work. Save your money, do not spend it on bullshit. Once you've been at MacDonalds/TESCO, whatever shit job for six months, start looking around for better jobs and speak to your supervisor about potential for promotion.

It may seem intimidating but believe me the rewards are worth it. If you continue on the NEET path it will only get worse and worse.

Even after stopping being a neet you still struggle to integrate if you fell for that life pit for many years.
I was a neet for over 6 years and despite having worked the most part of this last year I still am very awkward doing normal stuff that people do everyday.
My speed of thought feels very slow compared to other people, even brainlets, and my memory took a dive. And I was never depressed, took pills, never was fat and exercised regularly. I was just lazy so I slept a lot and spent the rest of the day on 4chinz and youtube.

The neet life is only sustainable if you still interact a lot with other people on a daily basis and keep your mind sharp, otherwise it deteriorates fast. As do your social skills, if you ever had them.
Your rhythm too turns slow, like people around me work on a fast pace naturally and I have to remind myself to speed up or I get left behind on my work. That or they're just in full blown waggie mode while I'm chilling and lost in my own thoughts lel.

    tldr: get a fricking occupation.

      Anonymous

      >I was just lazy so I slept a lot and spent the rest of the day on 4chinz and youtube.
I have a theory that sleeping too much can slow down your motivation and even your thinking. DO NOT get less sleep if you get less than 8 or 9 hours based on this, it might all be bullshit, but think about this - when you are running short of sleep, you have a bit less patience, you are trying to get things done because your body wants there to be time for sleepy time later. But if you slept for like 10+ hours, then your body could be in a different frame like that you can be lazy. Keep in mind that sleep is incredibly good for testosterone and growth hormone so again, this doesn't apply to getting less than 8 hours sleep.

        Anonymous

8-9 hour sleeper here. If I sleep over 10 hours it feels the same as sleeping less than 6 hours. Feels like shit, sluggish and tired.

I don't doubt it plays a role, big or small I don't know but it plays one.
The more I slept the more I wanted to sleep, every day looks the same and your sharpness gets lost in the pass of time.
That and not having a proper sleeping schedule, sometimes I would go to sleep at 11am after binge watching sons of anarchy or something like that.

I think had I being a pothead, not played sports, and fall for the medication trap like some anons do I would have never been able to escape it.
Look I'm at a dead end and labor intensive job at the moment but it beats being a neet by a large margin. It's not as comfortable as laying on couch all day calling anons a homosexual but being forced to go outside, interact with coworkers even if only a bit, having a paycheck and keep moving is helping me growing and becoming independent, finally.

It's more about keeping a good sleep schedule and being aware of your own circadian rhythm.
Go to bed and try to awake at the same time each day, and that will keep depression and other cognitive problems at bay.

About how long... yeah I can imagine people with depression or some other mental disorder indulging into much sleep, or having insomnia, which can excerbate the problem. The amount of sleep depends entirely on you.

Personally, after having gone through some very dark periods of my life and suffered through depression (which still resurfaces once a while, but I try to fight it), I best function when I get 8+ hours of sleep.
Even my normie co-workers are similar after asking.

Literally just go down the line of what a NEET is. Apply to a job of some sort, that will get you out of the house and meeting new people. Look into college courses with a local community college or potentially a university. Maybe pick up a couple of certifications in a field you like. Stop complaining about being a NEET and do something with your life. Hoping for the best anon

Whatever you do, you should integrate NOW. The longer you let it pass, the more difficult it will be to integrate successfully. As it is, it will already be noticeable to normies the abnormalities in you, once you are in your late 20s the breach between normies and you will be impossible to close.

Of course it is you flaming moron. To be honest with you, you're quite young lol. 22 is pretty much when I first started on my own fitness journey (after having been a total nerd my whole late teens/young adult life). You should be making the most of the (I'm guessing) free time you have now to do a couple of things more than anything - becoming fit in body and mind, and making as much money as you can.

I'm 10 years older than you now and I have a 2-yo kid with my wife of 5 years, so you have about 5 years or so from today to get on your own train friendo.

At 22? Absolutely. But you have to start NOW, get a job, or figure out what you want to do for a career and go back to school, or do both. You can't live being depressed, anxious and hiding away from the world for the rest of your life.

Start now, don't be here at 32 asking the same fricking question.

      Anonymous

This. You just gotta do something and go with the flow. The first thing you do, whether it's school or work, might not be it, but then you have a better idea of what IT might be. So you try something else. It's a process. Don't compare yourself to the people who were "on rails" since middle school ended and seemingly have everything in their life in order.

      Never give up the struggle.

        >Don't compare yourself to the people who were "on rails" since middle school ended and seemingly have everything in their life in order.
How do you not do this? Normal people have so much more great life experiences, parties, memories with friends, girlfriends, dates, sex, casual flings etc. Feels like they are on a level I could never reach because by the time I am ready to get a girlfriend most girls will be taken or not want to do fun stuff together anymore but it's all about money, status and stability and whatnot.
Like, what kind of girl wants to be in a relationship with a guy who starts his career at ~28 where most men with a good degree make six-figures already.

You play with the cards you're dealt with, simple as. And what's the alternative, dude? Do jackshit? Obviously when you're a hopeless depressed NEET your current life situation isn't doing anything to alleviate that. But you gotta take one step. Don't look at the "finish line", how hard it'll be to get there, how long it'll take. Just look at what the very first step is, and take that. After you've taken it you look again for the next step, and so on. Don't look at others and compare, it's of no use. Focus on yourself and making yourself happy and fulfilled.

Nah m8 you're fricked. You can try and pretend you're a normie, make friends and even get a gf but nothing will change, you will long for neetdom and being an autist is who you are. You might fool people at first but they will realize there is something fricked up about you they cannot explain, and it will follow you forever. Best thing you can do is accept it and not let it bug you.

I lived the semi-NEET life for 1.5 years after graduating college and not being able to find a "real" job - even if you maintain your sanity and are semi-social, you want to get out of the NEET black hole very very quickly. There's nothing worse than meeting an old friend you haven't seen in a while, and them asking what you do and you having you stumble and lie and obviously bullshit.

It's utterly crucial you get a job, not necessarily because work is "good" but because it forces you back into society in socialization mode. Even the most wagie tier jobs like McD's or Walmart have a TON of normies working at them, usually low IQ ones, excriminals, single moms, teenagers, and total losers (also more girls than you think), and they WILL talk to you - a NEET will fit right in, seriously. Interacting with customers gets your social skills back up to snuff quickly. You need
    1. ANY sort of work experience. Even community colleges often won't take you without a bare bones work history
    2. Some cash in your pocket. This is especially important for basic normie things like gym membership, but also if you want to go the community college/university route.

Work a year at your wagie job full time - you'll probably end up liking it, in an odd way. I've worked a lot of wagecuck jobs and even if the work sucks you often end up liking the people you work with. Usually they'll invite you to hang out or smoke weed or drink too, especially in degenerate jobs like food service. In the meantime, hit the gym hard, and save some cash for your academic interests. Community college is really really underrated in the USA. In my local one (which is quite good), there's basically zero admissions standards, and you can take a full semester of classes for under 1k USD, seriously. A lot of them have programs which pay well and are in high demand, like medical tech jobs, basic trade certifications, and their credits transfer to local larger universities.

      Anonymous

after this, if you get an in demand cert or CC associates, you'll be well on your way to making enough to live independently, especially if you saved money.

if you're a single, unmarried guy in the usa, by your late 20s, you're basically guaranteed to have a gf if you are
      1. IST
      2. EMPLOYED
      3. live alone
if you can swing these things, she may not be a 9/10, but you'll lose your virginity, have a job you want, be working, live by yourself, feel better cause youre fit, and have some money saved up. This is all doable in a 3 year timespan, no meme. Let's get after it!

by the way, some entry level jobs won't hire you without work experience. yes, it's true, especially the big corporations like chain restaurants or department stores. the way around this is mom and pop places and aboid online job applications. Look for your local shitty pizza joint or restaurant or local shop (gym, dry cleaner's, etc.) delivery driver is a good one. go in person and ask for a job, just walk right in and ask if the manager is there. most of these places, the employees either don't show up, or are high out of their minds the whole shift. if you're sober and show up on time (or show up at all), you'll actually already be a top employee at these kinds of places.
