Only if you look like gigachad then you can read books
If you look like a gymcel people will take pictures of you to make fun of you
this applies to literally any activity ever though
Depends on the book
>caring what others think
>owning airpods
Doesn't matter what you do, I'll always think you're pretentious and gay.
Based and op is a homosexual
You're a homosexual and probably only read celebrity memoirs anyway
reading on your phone? cool
reading an actual, physical book? pic related
Do you take breaks long enough to do any meaningful amount of reading, though? At that point I think I would just wait with reading until I get home. If I saw someone read a physical book in the gym I would not think it's either pretentious nor gay, just kind of dumb.
This, I probably wouldn't even finish a whole page during my rest break.
Yes. As if you're so well rested you can read for most of your rest set then you haven't done a hard enough set. If you can make any meaningful amount of progress in a book then you're not working hard enough or you're taking 10 minute rests.
It's only based if you continue reading during sets
How big you are and how heavy you're lifting determines how you're looked at.
Beyond that, don't read books in the gym if your rests are shorter than 5 min per set. It's just harder to retain what you've read and keep an internal note of progress otherwise. You know, it's easier to close on a pages first or last paragraph with longer rests. Do it a bit earlier than your rest time and take the extra time to ruminate on it.
>He doesn't read Mein Kampf between sets for added motivation
ngmi
For My Legionaries is essential gym-lit
Pretentious and gay because everyone is made aware by the context that you took the time to take this book in with you just to crack it open during your rest, which should not be long enough to give you any real progress in the book. This means you’re just striking a pose, and a real dorky grind-set style one at that.
>kindle app on phone
>read between sets
Life is bliss
>reading on phone
Who cares what other people think? You can do whatever you want legally and they can frick off
Who cares, do what you want.
It’s good to do things that are a little goofy
are you reading a book that is titled "How to be pretentious and gay"?
I commend you're not wanting to have 'dead time', but realistically you should be using your time at the gym to lift and focus solely on that.
Between sets you could reflect on your form, be in the moment and feel your bodies response to the last set, enjoy the pump, get your breathing under control etc. Dedicate your mind to one task at a time and commit fully to the task.
If I saw someone doing this, I'd assume they were trying to project this, 'not only am I a big strong man, I'm an intellect too' image. I'd assume they needed external validation and were preoccupied with the views of others, and as such, are weak minded.
Just an opinion like, do what the frick you want.
if you were so focused on your own gym time, then you wouldn't be spending it looking around and making said judgments on someone else minding their own business.

who’s gonna tell him?
Honestly I am considering getting a flip phone, a flac player, and a retroid to get off this satanic idiotbox
I don’t care. I’m still gonna do it anyway
How long are you resting between sets that you can meaningfully read something.
gotta be fricking shredded and it’s gotta be some based shit like mike ma or bap
Who the frick cares.
I find napping between sets to be a good way of using the down time
not if you're reading the horus heresy series
Frick off. Horus Heresy ruined 40k
It almost makes you wish for an exterminatus.
Xaxaxa blyat
>listening to audiobooks
Just read books for real you brainlet
You can't read real books while running, driving, or playing video games.
>playing video games
Lmao. You guys must listen to Andrew Tate and call it an audio book or something
I read real books in the sauna and before bed. I have have orange lights for reading before bed. Yes the sauna destroys books with heat and sweat so I can't recirculate them used. Not my problem though.
I don't think I would be able to read a book between sets my heart rate is usually too high and I would be speed reading and not able to properly take in the information
>Is it pretentious and gay to read a book between sets?
Absolutely. Next you will be bringing a Remington typewriter to the gym with you so you can write your manifesto between sets
>pretentious
No
>gay
Yes
don't rest for long enough to read.
Only time a book is not gay is if you're reading it on a treadmill or something
if you can read while training, you're not training hard enough, homosexual
>hide
What books do you read/listen to? How can you even concentrate while working out and being in a such a noise environment as a gym?
I was reading musashi at the gym and the book is blue and hard backed. A woman came up and talked to me and asked about it excitedly until I explained what it was. I realized a few years later that it was because it looked like I was reading alcoholics anonymous.
you clearly arent working out hard enough if you can read a fricking book
but do whatever you want
