Lifts are going up because you are eating excess and lifting. If you're getting your necessary protein thats great, beer is adding carbs.
The main reason people get fat from drinking is because they usually get hungry and eat 12 fried chicken wings, a large pizza, or some other bullshit when they're drunk.
That being said, alcohol is addictive, messes with your sleep, and combined with smoking does a good job at giving your throat cancer down the road.
That being said, drinking with your friends is fun. If you're cutting, probably take beer out of your life. There are certainly more nutritious options for calories/carbs than beer.
If you're happy with your progress and body that's great. Make sure you're tracking your bf and BMI, when shit gets to high and you need to cut, beer is an easy thing to cut out.

OP it definitely makes a difference. I've gone from heavily drinking 8-10 days a month to 1 heavy day and 4-5 moderate days a month and I have noticed a big difference in both gains and leanness.
It's a real thing, hops have bactericidal compounds in them which is why they worked as a preservative. Downside is that you digest them and they do get to your gut bacteria. As long as you aren't downing 3+ double juicy hazy meme IPAs a night you should be fine though

I drank about 5-6 beers everyday for a long time and recently stopped. Yeah I can confirm your body doesn't like it. Sweats, shits for 2 days, tired as frick for like 3 days then just low energy and need for more sleep for a week plus at this point. Also I don't feel like I'm in a fog some of the time maybe most of the time. It's not exactly the DT's but this is on 5-6 beers a day. Imagine what 15-16 will do to you? Best way to find out is to do it anon. Go ahead try it.

I've been yoyo dieting just because of beer for the last year. I've lost 24lbs total in a year of 1600-1800 calorie dieting, with 2 2800 drinking days a week. I'm done drinking, it's not even fun anymore when you consider the depression of hopping on the scale and losing all the progress you made in the last 2 weeks in 1 night of drinking.
