It's for powershitters to show off le big numbers. For building mass, DB bench is better, even weighted pushups are better

Not Op, but you guys need to get your eyes checked.

I still do incline bench even though I don't necessarily feel it in my upper chest, so I get what you mean. But what movements actually hit the upper chest?

Reverse grip bench does nothing but triceps for me. I have decent upper chest development, so something must be working.

      I’m a bit of a fatass atm

As long as you feel it with your doms. I don't feel it with the exercise either, mainly my front delts, but the day after i can feel the upper chest has been worked, mind-muscle connection isn't everything

If you want isolate it, probably something like incline dumbell flies.
Otherwise shoulders and triceps take the load.

It is simultaneously the single most important exercise to be aesthetic and the most overrated depending mostly on how many other lifts you have for chest.

newbie here, i cant feel bench in my chest at all. i make sure to take it slow, and visualise the exact step ill be taking before i do it, ive had people check my form for me and they say its good etc etc but i still only feel it in my arms and elbows

Try a Wider grip, tuck your scapula, keep it slow on the negative. Go to near failure.

feeling doesnt mean anything. when your bench goes from 1pl8 to 3pl8 for reps it matters frick all if you "felt" it in your chest or not lol. if "feeling" and "chasing the pump" meant something then you would just be at home playing video games and curling 10lbs dumbbells for gorillion reps and getting 20 inch arms

Not him but I agree for the most part. I think it matters on "novel lifts" meaning the first two or three sessions you do a lift and say feel more in your upper chest that's a sign it's doing what you want it to. And it will continue to do that even past the point where it's noticeable means it's probably more effective than what you were doing.

        what this anon says

considering that its a chest exercise, it feels off that im not feeling the strain during the exercise, or DOMS the day after, which makes me question if im missing out on some key tip to get the proper activation. its not like im planning on skiving off doing bench just because its not how i expected it

ty anon, ill be sure to try it

Try doing it with dbs. I can't build chest at all without dbs or machines because of how much my tricepts dominate all my pressing. I need at least a more pronounced adduction component. Which is a common issue for people who come from calisthenics, over developed tricepts relative to chest.

It could also be the insertions themselves are little narrower meaning they benefit more at the end of the range of motion rather than evenly through most of the rep.

no, cause everyone keeps bench pressing and building lower boobs. this gives you upper boobs gains

the opposite. People keep getting injured while getting no gains on the flat bench press while incline is safer and gives much more aesthetic gains
