is it true that a week or so break from the gym every couple of months is good for recovery and health?

as long as you're getting rest days during the week you don't need a whole week off your routine, that kind of thing might even make you fall off
that said it's not the end of the world if you miss a day here or there just don't make a habit of it
kinda. it's better to do a deload (lessen the weight you're lifting for a week)
this gives your tendons and ligaments a chance to recover since they heal slower than muscle
just ive missed a week off and im trying to cope
i feel like shit and feel im smaller
do you guys feel smaller when you take a week off lifting too?
Check out 531 7th Week it’s working up to a 1rm or 90% and that’s it. Feels like nothing happens but I feel strong throughout the week
That's just your imagination. And you'll come back stronger, too. Don't sweat a week or two of not lifting.
I think it's good, I feel stronger afterwards usually
Never heard of something like this tbh. train 5 or 4 times a week and I think you will be ok.
Also you are going to take a break no matter what as you will might get sick or be busy with school/work or vacations.
>never heard of deloading
You're new.
Yes I am. Explain pls
If you're not working on improving athletic performance in some capacity, i.e. strength, speed, or endurance, then there probably isn't much need for it.
Even if you're focusing on strength, I don't know of a coach that recommends completely stopping lifting for an entire week. It's typically just reduced volume and intensity before the next training block.
A deload is when you go easy for a week, but still do your workouts. Usually people use less reps/sets, and they might lower the weight slightly as well.
I took last week off because I hurt my foot. Coming back this week I feel weaker. I don't know if I actually am, probably not, but I feel like it which is the worst.
>come back from a week vacation
>smash all prs effortlessly
I think training 6 days a week might be too much
only if youre a powerlifter [or olympic larper]
if your goal is strength you need to deload because youre trying to output maximal strength, not a consistent strength at all times
if your goal is aesthetics you should be planning your routine in such a way that you can recover without it
sometimes i go like four days without doing any kind of exercise besides light walking. i think it helps
Only if you're not keeping shabbat, as a israelite who keeps shabbat I can rest in shabbat and sleep for 16 hours every shabbat no electricity is allowed to use so no computer, it's full rest day
The goyim know, israelite.
you hate us cuz you ain't us stay mad goy
We just find you repulsive. Like nogs and fat chicks.
I would recommend deloading once every 6 weeks (adjust this number as needed based on how well you are recovering, some people deload every month, some people never deload), and taking 1-2 weeks off maybe once a year or twice a year.
Yeah, if you're moving serious weight it gives your central nervous system a chance to recover. Lowers injury risk too by cutting down on joint inflammation.
>tfw 4th week off gym
What do i do bros?
I think so, yes. Those will come automatically when you get sick from time to time, though.
Don't take "rest days" when you don't need to rest. Your body will tell you when to rest.
