If you do sit ups with incorrect form, they can cause damage (just like any other exercise). Sit ups are a suboptimal ab exercise.

It's basically a myth.
I'm pretty sure the concept came from Mike Tyson saying he hurt his back from doing situps. But what the retards repeating it don't understand is that he was doing thousands each day. Situps aren't dangerous, doing thousands of reps of a single lift every day is what's dangerous. It's overuse injury, it's not like he snapped his shit from situps.
