Is it true that futons get filled with bugs and shit? Should I buy a very firm mattress to sleep on instead?

    Uhhhhh
I live in Tokyo and sleep on a futon every day
There's no bugs but the bottom does tend to get lint and dust on it
    The real problem is moisture
If you never air it out and don't take proper measures like a dry sheet it can get damp from sweat, etc, and then get moldy

That being said futons are better than beds still

If you have bed bugs in your house they'll get into your bed, futon or matress
Only way to get rid of them is to burn the house down and then bathe in acid

Futons tend to get musty and dirty because they're directly on the floor with no air circulation, which becomes a real problem if they're exposed to any moisture at all, i.e. sweat or humidity.
You have to air it out every now and then, or better yet just elevate it with a frame. Basically turning it into a cushy cot.

While this is true, the biggest benefit of a futon is the fact it doesn't have a fricking frame

        How is that a benefit?

          Takes less space
Because it's low on the floor and doesn't have a frame under it you can just walk on it, so you don't need thoroughfare
Also you can fold it up easy and put it away, but if you have a frame you can't do that

Or just put it away when you're not using it you moronic frick
