Is it true that isolation lifts don't build muscle?

Blaha said it just causes a temporary fluid pump that goes away within a week or two of not lifting.

This. You should only take advice from guys who are obviously on gear.

if it was true then professional bodybuilders wouldn't do isolation exercises.

How about competing naturals and naturals who have lifted for years and have good physiques?
And why wouldn't it build muscle? Look at arm wrestlers and their arms, look at some blacksmiths who have one huge forearm. All of them have succesefully isolated muscles

I think it does build muscle, but it’s so minuscule that it’s almost nonexistent.
Compounds have the same problem, but they build a tiny bit more muscle since they create more stimulation.
I’ve tried bodybuilding routines. Literally hit arms 10x10. All the gains went away when I stopped doing that style of training.

Wowee if you stop training a muscle it becomes smaller over time no way. The same would happen if you stop doing your compounds moron.

He's admitted that he doesn't know what he's talking about. It was when he apologized to the marine for stolen valor a while back when it looked like there was a chance he wouldn't be a lolcow anymore. He blew those chances but either way he doesn't know much about lifting

Of course he's right. The only proven way to build muscle is with COMPOUND MOVEMENTS and BARBELL TRAINING and the BIG THREE exercises. It is literally impossible to build muscle in any other way and no one has ever created a good physique doing anything besides SQUAT, BENCH, AND DEADLIFTS.

Seriously though, why do Powerlifting gurus who look have never looked good in their lives think strength training makes them an expert in bodybuilding by default? Rippetoe and Bromley do this too despite the fact that they both look like shit.

Because natural bodybuilding isn’t real. Literally Google image “natural bodybuilders” and you’ll get a compilation of roiders.

Bromley has like 50 videos about HOW TO GET JACKED TRIS and HOW TO TRAIN FOR MESS recommending memelifts and 3 day a week powerlifting programs instead of the staple tried and true programming.

That's why it's important to confuse the muscle so it doesn't know if it's being contracted for a compound lift or an isolation exercise.

Is IST the most moronic fitness forum on the entire internet?

It's arguably the most moronic forum period, you didn't even have to specify fitness.

It's really not. Try browsing IST once in a while. Compared to IST, IST is an excellent board.

If you're listening to a schizo with no exercise science or physiology degree who hasn't left his home in 15 years who also somehow claimed to be an Army Ranger during that time, then you sir deserve the lack of gainz for taking his b8.
Of COURSE isolation movements can build muscle. If you believe they don't, then feel free to stay small and weak forever.

He spams curls now and cares about aesthetics. He lies about caring and says he needs bigger delts for benching or whatever excuse he feels like that day but you can tell he's trying to look big to get more customers

      He's said that repeatedly.
I first heard the phrase "fluff and pump" work to describe it from him.

Lower volume, but high intensity compounds + high volume isolations

  14. 1 year ago
    Anonymous

Of course not but they don't build muscle better than compounds. Link a single study proving isolations build muscle better, there aren't any. There's one study showing a fractional improvement by having BOTH in a workout which most people that know how to train already do so the topic is stupid.

they do but in a much less optimal manner than compound lifts
they're more of a cherry on top of heavy compound training
get big and strong = heavy compounds
carve out additional aesthetics = high rep isolations

He does have a pretty poor physique for someone who's lifted as long as he has, and abused steroids, doesn't he?
He's even used some form of site enhancement on his biceps, either synthol, or testosterone (which is what he claims it was, and that it produce scar tissue).
