is nicotine an effective metabolism booster?

Smoking (and nicotine in general) is one of the worst things you can do to yourself. It's the most sinister trap in the world.
I won't go into the details on all the terrible, like 5 million deaths a year caused by smoking. But I'll tell you all the benefits
Once you get addicted to smoking, you get the benefit of
      >Wishing you never started
Nicotine is a stimulant, it does not relax anyway. However, it is a drug addiction, and drug addicts feel "relaxed" when they get their fix.
Every smoker wishes they were a nonsmoker, and the reason they smoke is to temporarily feel like a non smoker.
There is no such thing as one cigarette, and every heavy smoker will tell you, if they could go back in time, they would stop themselves from ever smoking.

I gained like 8 lbs or so since I stopped smoking a month ago.

Because you don't know how to quit properly. Read Allen Carr: The Easy Way to Stop Smoking
Gaining weight wasn't because you stopped smoking, you gained weight because you overate and are trying to substitute your desire to smoke with food.
Again, there are literally millions of obese and fat smokers, it is not helpful in weightloss, but it will absolutely trap you.
      >How long does it take to get addicted?
Nicotine is one of the most addictive chemicals in the world, but it's withdrawal effects are so minor you barely feel it. It also metabolizes so quickly that as soon as you finish the cigarette, you will begin withdrawing.
If you just started smoking, you will tell yourself "wow, this is so disgusting there is no way I could get addicted to this". And I promise you, you are already addicted.
There is no such thing as "one cigarette".
Do yourself a favor and don't ever smoke, you're better off walking into a bear trap. If you walk into the bear trap you'll at least know it's a trap, and when you escape you'll be happy. Most smokers don't know how to escape happily.

Smoking is awful. Nicotine is great. Most people who rag on nicotine can't get through the day without 2 or 3 cups of coffee.
Nicotine is a superior substance to caffeine tbfh. Just don't smoke. Snus, vape, gum, or patches.

Vapes have been around for 20 years now. They've been widespread for over 10 years.
You're still going to be saying this shit in 40 years.

There are no benefits to nicotine. Snus, vape, gum, and patches all have negative side effects that outweigh the positives.
There are no positives, it's a mild stimulant that rapidly leaves the body and almost instantly triggers withdrawal.
The withdrawal is so weak, it is barely perceptible to your conscious. But, there is a craving.
Whenever you use nicotine again, that literal addiction is being filled, and you temporarily feel relief
You know what you feel like when you use nicotine? You feel like someone who never used nicotine.
You're a drug addict. You have a disease and you should get help. Leaving a drug addiction is the best thing you can do for yourself, but you're probably brainwashed and are scared you're "giving something up".
Again, I'd rather walk into a bear trap than use nicotine again. I'd look pretty stupid trying to argue that I like being stuck in the bear trap. And that's why I think you're pretty stupid for saying Nicotine is great. You're a drug addict stuck in a trap and have deluded yourself into thinking you aren't trapped.

            >t. unfortunately true drug expert
Nicotine is fantastic. Hijacks the amygdala, improves baseline functioning. It is the ROA that is a big issue, particularly shitty ciggies with ingredients mixed in that are worse for health and potentiate the addiction.

              >drug addict thinks a drug is fantastic
              Wow, that's really shocking

Do you mean when a drug addict doesn't have the drug, their performance is worse? But when they get the drug their addicted to their performance is better?
Or are you trying to say that the baseline of someone who does not use nicotine is worse than that of someone who uses nicotine? Because that's not how a baseline works.
Keep defending drugs like a "true drug expert" would, what a ridiculous title to give yourself.

There are multiple studies and peer reviewed articles on the potential benefits and usages for nicotine in it's pure form. Not saying people should hop on a very addictive substance but it's incredible how confident you are in your statement despite being an absolutist retard.

        >There is no such thing as one cigarette
that's bs. i smoked 1 cig something like 2 months ago. last summer i smoked a pack in a week few times. just because you have an addictive personality, doesn't mean everyone has.

          Anonymous

Getting addicted to a drug has nothing to do with your personality - anyone can get addicted to drugs. Nicotine is one of the most addictive substances in the world, it's stupid to blame someone's personality.

Congratulations, you smoked your last cigarette 2 months ago. That's a wonderful accomplishment. If you ever smoke again, there's your proof that there is no such thing as just one cigarette. With that mindset you'll be smoking your whole life, because nicotine causes a drug addiction.
Just because you don't know what you're talking about, even though there's a vast array of facts that prove nicotine is one of the most addictive substances in the world, and 5 million people a year die because they were not able to stop smoking, doesn't mean other people are not aware of the facts.
There are very, very few people in this world who have smoked one cigarette their entire life.
The only reason you smoked a pack in a week a few times is because you smoked "just one cigarette" and have fallen for the nicotine trap. There's no such thing as just one, it's a chain and you either break it or you don't.
Go ahead, smoke again, and end up like every other smoker who wishes they never started smoking. If you doubt me, go ahead and ask a heavy smoker this question: "if you could go back in time and stop yourself from ever smoking, would you do it?". The answer is always, always yes. You consider yourself a casual smoker so you think you're in control of your drug addiction.
Congratulations, you've already started brainwashing yourself, like all the other drug addicts.

            >That's a wonderful accomplishment
that's not an accomplishment i can smoke a pack today and not smoke for years. the point is that not everyone gets a compulsion to smoke. personally i find them very tasty. yes, i know they are bad, but so is the beer. or a pie. i can drink once in a while, smoke once in a while, or eat a slice of a pie. doesn't mean that i'm gonna eat pie every day.

              Anonymous

Okay great, not everyone. Good argument.
Lets look at the facts - No one who smoked their first cigarette smoked it then said "I want to do this the rest of my life"
But, there are millions of people addicted to smoking, and those people all said the same thing "I can control it".
Nicotine is a drug, and incredibly addictive.
Don't compare it to a pie, or even alcohol. The withdraw and addictive effects of alcohol and drastically, drastically different from nicotine, and pie is not a drug.
I don't know what your point is. You smoked one cigarette, and since then you've smoked more.
The people who have never smoked a cigarette, have never smoked.
Almost everyone who smoked "one cigarette" ended up smoking another, like you
Almost everyone who relapse who tries to quit smoking did it because they said "just one cigarette won't hurt"
Nicotine is an addictive drug, and leads to drug addiction
It's incredibly well documented the amount of preventable deaths and cancers caused by Nicotine, and it outweighs heroin, crack, and cocaine by a factor of 100.
So I don't really know what your point is, nicotine is a terribly addictive drug and millions of people suffer from that addiction.
you're just a stupid gay who got personally offended because someone said your drug addiction is bad, have fun smoking again and being living proof that there is no such thing as "just one cigarette". You either break the chain and never smoke again, or continue to be a drug addict.

my point - not everyone who has smoked once feels a compulsion to smoke. it's not that hard to understand. i don't smoke regularly, i don't think about smoking. hell i have a half smoked pack in my jeans and i forgot it even existed for weeks. does this sound like an addiction to you. once again, not everyone has an addictive personality. you were a heavy smoker, i never was and never will be. you smoked for the sake of smoking itself, i never did, i only smoked because it's tasty. simple as.

Yeah bro, getting addicted to drugs is all about the personality, not the inherent addictive properties of the incredibly well known addictive drug
                >does this sound like an addiction to you?
                Idk, are you using drugs?
                >I never was and never will be you
Yeah that's what they all say, you're addicted hook line and sinker. I hope in 3 years from now you remember this conversation when you're faced with the conflict of wills of wanting to smoke but hating it.
There's an easy way to quit though, and I hope you take it, find it, and never consume nicotine again. It will be the best decision you've ever made.

What's wrong with just nicotine, like gums or lozenges? I understand smoking is bad, don't get me wrong. But all I've ever found nicotine alone is that it encourages the growth of pre-existing tumors. And this was only shown in rats. Rats without tumors had zero negative effect, and did not develop any over time.

I have a suHispanicion that just filling your stomach with hot coffee contributes to a feeling of being full, maybe its a volume/stomach expansion thing idk, though I do think just mouth movement from gum also contributes

The only good about tobacco is the nicotine and everything else in will fuck you up. If you want test gains from nicotine get a patch or gum or something. Nicotine is also good for your brain. Google it.
It's a whole rabbit hole. The biggest consumers of nicotine are literal schizos on anti-psychotic medication. The reason for this is that anti-psychotics completely destroy the brain over the long term, but nicotine intake can effectively counter those destructive side-effects. The working theory in psychiatry right now is that schizos are instinctively drawn to nicotine to counter the brain degradation of anti-psychotics. Beyond that, nicotine lowers the chance of dementia and Alzheimer in everyone who regularly ingests it, not just schizos. Smoking is still super bad for you but nicotine itself turns out to be good for you. It also boosts test.

Everything you consume is a drug moron. Food has effects on your mind and body just at lesser magnitudes. Even oxygen will get you high if you breath heavy and fast for a few minutes. Eating too much sugar is like taking the opposite of anti-depressant medication.
Just do your research and be smart about what you put in your body.

No, that's not true at all.
          >A drug is any chemical substance that causes a change in an organism's physiology or psychology when consumed. Drugs are typically distinguished from food and substances that provide nutritional support.
          source, google.
Don't compare drugs to food, water, and other basic necessities of life. Do your research about the fact that you a complete fucking idiot, like the same kind of person that says "Uh BRO, EVERYTHING IS A CHEMICAL".
Yeah, too much oxygen will cause you go to blind and kill you. That point is completely irrelevant to the fact that Nicotine is a completely useless drug with terrible side effects and is also very addictive.
Yeah, obesity and other things exist, same with war, famine, and a lot of other bad stuff, but that's not what the thread is about.
The thread is about nicotine, and nicotine is a terrible drug that contributes to over 5million deaths a year. It completely ruins and controls the lives of people addicted to it.

Smoker's arent weak at all. You try to smoke 3 packs a day and tell me how difficult it was to do that. Smokers literally brainwash themselves into believing they like it, it's a poisonous weed that smells and tastes terrible, and they literally force themselves to get over it and eventually "enjoy it" even though they all wish they could quit.

This. I've been smoking like a train lately and if it's the weekend I'll do house projects for 10 hours with no appetite but I'll smoke every 30 mins. I gotta quit this shit, though.

Yeah, every smoker knows they have to quit, every smoker wants to quit, but they all don't realize you aren't quitting anything.
You are escaping a drug addiction that has trapped you.
Read Allen Carr's: The Easy Way to Stop Smoking.
It's the best thing that happened to me, you will enjoy escaping.

You can write convincing arguments against smoking without the sweeping generalisations that just make you seem like a liar, you keep typing them out the same way. You’re mostly right, but you manage to be so unlikeable about it that I strongly suggest you have a nice day

No generalizations, it's basic facts. I really don't care if I'm unlikeable to a gay.

Wow you really convinced me you stupid fucking gay.

Enjoy your drug addiction. None of those links proved anything positive about nicotine.
It said it MAY be possible that nicotine can REDUCE the risk of dementia.
Well, it may reduce you risk, but it's pretty hard to calculate the actual risk of someone who never got something compared to someone who did.

Please keep pulling up small, few and scattered articles that say nicotine MIGHT be helpful in ONE case, and ignore all the documented and proven health risks of it you absolute fucking lunatic

Do you not understand what that means? I think you are confused by the word "inverse" here.
You come off as mental though so I'm done responding after this. I often forget that most of this sites users are disturbed.

I quit vaping recently. My skin looks better when I don't smoke. Even while drinking retarded amounts of water it was making me dehydrated. Only crave it when I'm bored or stressed at work

Nicotine is a wonderful drug. It turned me out like it does everyone else, though when I started I had only intended to use it as a focus booster/appetite suppressant. I was studying and also dieting at the time. I knew what nicotine could do. After a little under a year I started getting these weak, rubbery boners. Just on a hunch, I cut out the nicotine and had full vitality back in less than a week. YMMV

Smoking doesn't solve the root of the problem. You are fat. The reason you are fat is because you keep eating goyslop and you don't lift

smoking is one of the most retarded things you can do to yourself. It also keeps your body from metabolizing dht so if it's in your genes you're going bald 10 or 20 years younger than you needed to 🙂

Anyone who says you can't smoke without getting addicted is a dumbass. I smoke cigars occasionally. I went two weeks smoking one nearly every night. I haven't smoked one in nearly a year since then. Will I have another? Absolutely. Not because of the nic though, because I enjoy the flavor, and I enjoy the process of smoking a cigar. It's incredibly relaxing to me and I find that I can sleep better when I'm camping after having a good smoke. I treat alcohol the same way. I've got beers in the fridge that haven't been touched for months.
