yeah but like literally everything counts with this there's 10000 ish minutes in a week minus about 3300 we spend sleeping so we have approximately 6700. If we're just doing nothing (1 met) wouldn't that already put us above where all the risks flatline?

I don't understand this shit and I'm a fricking grossly morbidly obese hamplanet myself. I might get out of breath and sweaty after a 20 minute walk depending on the pace and temperature, but blisters? A hike?

I've walked all fricking day around zoos, parks, city downtowns, aquariums, museums, whatever and yeah I'm sore at the end of the day because I'm fricking fat, but jesus christ. I assume these sorts of people are also the ones who slather themselves with a thick coat of sunscreen every morning to "protect their skin" from the harsh lighting of their office job.

you literally get stopped by cops if you walk
and if you stop to rest, fined for loitering
and if you walk in your neighborhood, the neighbors WILL think bad of you
American culture is being jealous and afraid of your own neighbor. it's isolationism at its finest

        Anonymous

You're making all this shit up. People walk in my neighborhood all the time, no one gets fined for loitering unless you're doing something moronic and cops don't care if you walk unless they're the rapie type trying to find a woman.

You're wrong about all of that. When I didn't have a car and had to walk to different areas, several people offered to give me rides when they saw me walking. One older lady would stop whenever she saw me and give me rides back. I've walked in every place I've lived and would often see neighbors walking, too. Nobody judges walkers but everyone judges cyclists.

Kek is this just twitter morons or are Americans actually like this?

On slow days I might do my errands on foot instead of public transportation and that's like a total of 2-3 hours of walking. 20 minutes is like a nice strolling pace to the convince store and back.

      Anonymous

Tbh, I wouldn't want to walk more than 10 or 15 minutes somewhere either (in terms of getting to point A to point B), any longer than that and I'd much rather bike and save a lot of time. That being said going on a meandering walk for leisure by myself or with friends, I'll go for like 40 minutes or up to an hour.

Same, the reason I generally don’t walk more than 20 minutes is purely a matter of time. Hiking and shit is fun

The “professional shoes” one really gets me. Jesus christ one time I ran 10 miles in falling apart futsal shoes that were too small that I borrowed from a buddy. Even when I didn’t run and had gamer-tier VO2 max I had no issue walking hours in my “professional shoes” because they fit properly. They slip on, are flexible, have minimal padding and aren’t too tight without sliding around. Can be used as running shoes (and I used to use old ones for that). They just look fancy.

Is one hour of walking enough cardio for the day?

I walk around 3.5-4 miles after work a day + walking to work and walking around at work I usually average 6-9 miles a day. I guess that's enough walking to be considered good cardio as I have a resting heartrate of 52 bpm.

      I hate Americans

Americans are extremely opposed to the idea of walking. People find it weird that I prefer to walk to places and most people i know consider a few miles a long walk. Very sad. I bet if kids still walked, we wouldn't be so fat. Walking is extremely goated.

This. Cities make me anxious. People are made to be around 150 people max. That's the maximum amount of friends anyone can make at any one time. Being around millions of people is not natural. It's how stupid ideas spread, how diseases spread. We need to return to how our hyperborean ancestors lived, grouped into separate tribes of around 150 people.

These "people," aren't normally people you mong. There is a cottage industry of creating fake social media accounts so you can pose as someone from across the political spectrum and pretend to be outrageously moronic.

There are entire /misc/ threads of people making fake accounts to push the flavor of the week shitty meme joke, where caps of fake libs are posted for lulz. Then the same caps will be posted on /misc/ for months and people will uncritically think they are real despite being openly faked on the same fricking site they are on.

Lefties do this moronic shit all the time too. You shouldn't be allowed to vote either if you fall for this shit.

ill bite. depends on what youre doing and what you want. an hour of walking is great for some people and nothing for other people. whatever makes you sweaty and tires your muscles is good enough for you if you arent eating too much. just work out enough to reach that point every time you work out and dont over eat and youre good.

funny how experiences differ. I grew up trapping beavers and making hats, hunting squirrels for breakfast, killed a boar we drove dogs on at 8 with a knife, stalked deer with a recurve bow starting age 12, to this day eat venison as main protein. I can go out in the woods for days and be at ease. went to NY not long ago to visit some of the wife’s distant relatives and felt like fricking john rambo, I was absolutely disgusted annoyed and on edge the entire time.

I usually walk an hour per day and I’m on my feet for four hours per day. I don’t plan it like that, but it just works out that way. For me, I think this is enough. The only issue I have is pretty terrible back, hip, buttock pain that’s not because of the walks but is made worse by the walks so sometimes I really struggle to maintain this.
