They are literally seeds anon, not nuts. A true nut is a fruit and plants want you to eat their fruits. Peanuts are not the fruit of the peanut plant, they are the seed.

It's a plant oil and there are defense chemicals in it, but it's way more healthy than industrialized seed oils. Seed oils are essentially industrial byproducts that have to be treated for rancid smells and sold back to the general public as cooking oil. Best to not eat it. Peanut butter is crushed peanuts (real peanut butter).

Some peanut butter is obviously bad for you, but if the ingredients contain just salt and peanuts and not much else it's probably pretty good. I'm sure there are some brands that are nothing but peanuts, but you will need to shake the shit out of it before use due to it becoming thicker at the bottom.

I don't even eat peanut butter. I mean, bread? Are you fricking kidding me!?

That's a joke, but I just came into this thread because I have an entire row on my bookshelf dedicated to health and longevity, including some highly credible but mainstream stuff, and somewhat esoteric, mostly discredited, tomes like "Vitalogy" (not the Pearl Jam album, the book it steals it's cover art from).

Vitalogy is big on not cumming, for the record, it's legit 20th century NoFap for entire chapters, but, also for the record, that's one of the things that's been discredited - masturbation is pretty good for longevity, assuming it's not a shameful pursuit (which, sure, it often is).

Anyway, the legume stuff comes from multiple books, famously "The Blue Zone" and "The Longevity Bible", but also "Successful Ageing" which was based on a very large MacArthur foundation study.

Legumes form a complete protein when paired with a grain. So oats or whole grain bread would be a great option.
Same with beans or lentils with rice, quinoa, or barley.

Peanuts, like most legumes, are very good for you.

If there was a list of the healthiest foods I'm not sure what the order would be except for the number one position, that would be legumes.

Legumes include: Peanuts, most things we would call a bean, such as white (baked) beans, broad beans, basedbeans, most things we would call a pea, such as chickpeas and, well, pea peas. Alfalfa is a legume as well and, as you can see, they vary quite a bit in their macro profiles, but are almost always high in protein and fibre.

Phytate can reduce absorption of minerals, but it's consumption is also correlated with lower all-cause mortality and has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in various types of cancer cells.
Very few, if any foods, are "perfect" or have no downsides. morons just latch on to any excuse not to eat the foods they don't like.
Most ANTI NOOTRIENTS have other beneficial effects on health via direct signalling interactions in the body or through their effent on microbiota

Maybe. I don't trust nutritional science generally. I find it to be one of the least trustworthy yet most referenced forms of science. Further, different individuals will respond differently. Somebody who works 10 hours a day in the field probably doesn't need to worry about phytates from oatmeal. Somebody who barely leaves their desk probably shouldn't be eating any carbs at all, and certainly not ones which could block nutrient uptake.

            >Somebody who barely leaves their desk probably shouldn't be eating any carbs at all, and certainly not ones which could block nutrient uptake.
Provided the rest of the diet includes high quality, nutrient dense foods eaten seperately from phytate-containing foods, then there is no detriment to most people even sedentary folks.
Somebody who barely leaves their desk should be correcting their lifestyle before they worry about their diet.

Absolute trash.. legumes are seeds of the plan t... Seeds are highly toxic since plants don't want their babies to be eaten!! They're the most toxic part of a plant, eg. Cyanide in apple seeds etc..

    Peanut butter contains -
Phytic acid - plant toxin that prevents the absorption of important minerals like zinc, calcium
Aflatoxins - estrogenic mold that forms on peanuts (and all seeds/legumes) that makes your endocrine system go haywire
Atrazine/Glyphosate - estrogenic herbicides sprayed on peanuts that will basically give you manboobz
Incomplete protein - peanut butter is lauded for being 'high protein' but that's a israelite marketing scam and complete hogwash.. the "protein" in pb is incomplete, not to mention has low bioavailability (not recognised and absorbed like protein from an egg is).. trying to build muscle from incomplete proteins is like trying to manufacture a car without wheels.. you need all the essential amino acids to successfully build muscle
Full of Omega 6 oils - omega 3s are good for you, but too much omega 6 oils causes inflammation in your body and brain, causing depressive episodes, mental illness etc

Yes sadly.. they're tasty af though but I've had to give them up.. don't miss them

Seeds (nuts, seeds, grains, legumes) are some of the most highly defended parts of plants. Peanuts, cashews, almonds are all seeds aka plant babies.. it's in the interest of plants to protect them since they're the seedlings to their next generation

Without widespread factory farming, mechanization, and cheap labour, these psuedofoods wouldn't even be possible for us to consume..

Here's the video on how cashew "nuts" are produced. Cashew is the seed of the cashew plant, and the seed is protected by caustic acids that literally burns the skin off the hands of the people tasked with extracting the cashew nut.. clearly well protected and not meant to be eaten

        Toxins include -
        Lectins
        Phytates
        Oxalates
        Unstable linoleic acids

Why are seeds such as Almonds, Chia Seeds, and Pumpkin Seeds so nutrient rich if we cant eat them?
Side not I was a raw vegan about 10 years ago so we used nut butter and nuts in general for a lot of our dishes.
I remember a lot of talk about how truly "raw" cashews are inedible and even the raw ones that come in the store have been heavily processed.
In raw vegan circles the argument was that if it can't be consumed in its natural raw heirloom form, then it isnt meant for human consumption.

It fricking pisses me off how much our products still come from inhumane and unethical sources even in 2022. My carpet is made by a pakistani slave that get beaten daily. My diamonds come from slaves in africa who are underfed and mutilated. My iphone comes from child laborers in China who cant even afford one. It goes on and on, .

OP, peanut oil is different from peanut butter. The small amounts of natural plant fats found in real peanut butter are healthy and digestible.

That said, only get natural peanut butter, preferably organic.
The normal stuff is cut with like 10% HFCS and actual seed oil to make it cheaper and tastier for normies.

Of course its not a complete source of protein but it's great as part of a diet with animal proteins. PB+Greek yogurt is a goat combo

besides plant defensive chemicals are sometimes good for us. caffeine and nicotine are defensive compounds which have some benefits effects. we literally evolved eating these compounds, our bodies expect to be exposed to them. autistically avoiding harmful is why modern people have certain health problems. our bodies are so used to dealing with parasites, for example, since they were always evolutionarily present, that it attacks itself in the absence of them (allergies).
