For powerlifting, definitely. Sipping on whole milk with sugar, coffee and salt throughout the day, eating beef, eggs and cheese along with oranges.

Yes but his primary concern is health and longevity, not fitness.
Optimizing your health should improve your fitness, but he tends to view excessive exercise as a health hazard.
You get the maximum heart disease prevention benefits with about 1-4 hours of light cardio per week, which can be accomplished with a couple short walks. Once you rise above that plateau you are over-exercising and your risk of disease actually increases.
Moderate exercise, especially if you're having fun and socializing, like in sports, is healthy.
But being a roid-troony is not healthy, and neither is extreme obsession where you train 6 hours/day.
But if that's your hobby then go for it.

don't leave out what he says about concentric exercise; it is regenerating for the body.
I imagine he'd also distinguish between serotonergically forcing yourself through an exercise routine that you hate versus living an enjoyable lifestyle that simply involves moving and using your body a lot.

    Is fitness Peaty?

Depends. Peating is kind of vague in its entirety with a few solid recommendations and a lot of people on the forums experimenting with all kinds of weird supplementations and diets. Some of those guys are pretty far out there.
The basic stuff, like improving metabolic and thyroid function, eating more sat fats, avoiding pufa, aspirin, sugar... All very easy to test yourself. For me, personally, avoiding PUFA, consuming more saturated fat and adding honey to my diet has improved my skin, my sleep, my energy levels and leaves me with mostly warm hands and feet which is indicative, generally, of sufficient thyroid function.
I don't intermittent fast anymore but I still lift heavy weights three times a week and still drink alcohol at the weekend which is probably not 'peaty'.

All in all I feel better and look better so I'll keep doing what I'm doing.

Outside the ketolard guru community it's common, accepted knowledge that saturated fat intake will lead to atherosclotic development. How is Peat right and every other nutrition scientist wrong?

Most people die of heart disease for a reason.

Not a Peatard nor a ketolard, but dietary sat fats causing heart disease is not settled. My guess is that not all saturated fats are equal but I don't know.

I'd be shocked if coconuts caused heart disease, but it isn't far-fetched that eating obese, grain-fed cows every day would cause deleterious effects in humans.

        Anonymous

Peat's vague diet recomendations are low fat. In short: PUFA bad/sat fat better/coconut oil may have thyroid promoting and anti-aging properties/15% of diet being fat is 'probably ideal'/eat too much sat fat and you'll get fat.

I read some stuff peat was saying about progesterone being important, and I think derek mpmd talked about taking it because finasteride inhibits progesterone and allopregnanolone.
Should guys on fin supplement progesterone?

      Anonymous

i've heard that finasteride has some structural similarties to progesterone.
If you're suffering from hair loss, a) do you know what your thyroid function is like? b) why not try t3?
progesterone is beneficial for hair growth and has anti-aging properties, i would strongly consider trying it.

I'm already on fin, I doubt progesterone would help
I'm only interested for supplementing allopregnanolone basically, don't want to mess up neurochemicals if I don't have to

          Anonymous

you should be more worried about messing up neurochemicals because of fin if anything. progest + thyroid can repair the endocrine system holistically

            Anonymous

yes, are you understanding what I'm writing?
Fin inhibits progesterone and allopregnanolone, which is a neurochemical. Supplementing progesterone could restore allopregnanolone.
I'm curious if anyone has experience with supplementing progesterone.

              Anonymous

What I meant was that you're risking very little supplementing things like progesterone or thyroid in comparison with the potential harm of finasteride. I have yet to use progesterone myself but if fin affects 5AR then it will interfere with progesterone's conversion to allopregnanolone. But again, you're not risking much by experimenting.
