Is protein powder really even cost-effective anymore?

Tub of Optimum Nutrition vs just buying shit like Muscle Milk/Equate/etc shakes at Walmart.

Should I even bother with ordering tubs? It seems like after tax and shipping they end up so close to the same amount 😐

It's less than $2 for 30g of quality protein, I can't find anything as cost effective or convenient.

        >live in Italy
        >Parmesan
        >12€/kg on discount, 33g proteins for 100g
Costs much less but the amount of calories you input with it is huge.
Also, eggs cost less, 4 eggs are like 1€ and you should get about 26-30g of proteins.

Ground beef and chicken gets you more protein for a lower price, and is micronutrient dense.

          >cost effective
Literally every other protein source except steak or lobster
          >convenient
          Skim milk or eggs.

That's well and good, I do not disagree here. I have medical reasons I'd rather not go into that require a highly liquid diet so I've been questioning if I should just buy the premade shakes in stores instead of doing tubs anymore. If I had the ability to consume large amounts of meats, I would.

It became less cost effective when buying pressure increased and now it's its own fancy product instead of just a byproduct of dairy production.
If you can tolerate lactose just eat regular skim milk instead.

It's not cost effective anymore. Bought some whey today and they charged my $75 for like 2lbs. I bought it this time because I didn't want to look like a poorgay but next month I'm switching to egg whites.

Eggs are like 6 dollars a dozen now at cheapest (not including costco or nonprofits), at least in the US. That's 1 dollar per 12g of protein.

where I live in Europe it costs much more than eggs for the same amount of proteins, but is much less calorie-dense, so it's good for a cut.
