Hiking uphill is probably better. You can do it on an incline treadmill, and even target your calves by climbing more on your tip-toe rather than the whole foot.

Running and sprinting will only get you to medium levels of muscle size, and it would do so slowly.
Let me tell you the real redpill for calf growth. I assume you like me also spend 8+ hours a day in front of a computer, the trick is to put something heavy across your thighs then tip toe and try to lift as high as you can while sitting, you should feel your calves start straining pretty quickly.
do not listen to ANY of these gays, I've seen the most insane calves on Gen X dads that only workout by running in the morning. Plus you have muscle in there but you just need muscle tone to see it.
>I've seen the most insane calves on Gen X dads that only workout by running in the morning
Probably because they've been doing it for years and have heavier upper bodies or even body fat. As someone who ran for 10 years and never went above 150lbs 12-15%BF, my calves were only ever 15in.
>Technically you build muscle but it is dense, compact muscle.
This is something weird bodybuilders especially roiders wont get
Tons of people who run and do general athletics and lift are WAY heavier than they look because of this
Their muscles aren't full of water and shit but they have a ton of recruited fibers packed tight as shit so they are way heavier than they look

Ruck and run
I'm a big advocate of the long run, for one don't be a cardiolet and while you're getting those aerobic gains might as well get some legs.
But also the ruck. 50 lbs dry no less than 6 miles @ 15 minute pace or better. Once a week. Calves exist for walking. So walk but make it harder. Make it weighted.
I've been running for ages and it never did anything for my calves.
It absolutely is. Never listen to anyone who recommends rucking for any reason other than training for a ruck march. You will permanently fuck your knees in no time. Ask me how I know.
Calves raises get me a really good pump though. Have you thought about heavy, controlled and 20+ reps?
Probably not.
You do that and then you run as you finish leg day
Running is a good way to grow calfs but not required, the key is frequency. A lot of people train calfs on their leg days only and then wonder why they hardly grow. If you do calf raises every day or every other day you will 100% see them grow. Plus you can do them anywhere.
No the fatpill is
You misspelled "sprinting".

Put some hiking pack or a weight vest on and you are set.
Yeah, I gotta get the girls together for more hikes

Take the hill sprint pill
shoes should be as minimal and bare as possible
Running does shit all for muscle growth

For me, its cyclists

You use muscle to run. It builds you somewhat when you start
Technically you build muscle but it is dense, compact muscle. Not the large popcorn muscle you get bodybuilding.

Rooning and cycling are both really good for legs. Not as efficient as resistance training but much more fun.

Isn't rucking disastrous for your joints?
Yes it is, and the anon you're replying to is a fucking retard who will have ruined knees in the future.
No it’s not. Moving and working the body strengthens the joints
There's really no issue unless you start jogging.
You can run with weighted vest. Moving and working the muscles aren’t bad for joints at all
Don’t slam the weight into your joints and you’re fine. There is a noticeable impact difference between walking and jogging.
I've been running for ages and it never did anything for my calves.

Is running advised when you have heart problems?
Take the autismpill and walk around everywhere tip toed
Wait is that an autism sign? I did that growing up
skipping rope with alternating feet

The other issue is volume. If you're just doing a 3x8 on calf raises and not getting a pump, it's not gonna work.
Skipping and running giev a good burn
Be fat and run bleachers. Your squat will go up by 100lbs in a month and your calves will grow like gangbusters.
